Exploring Life & Business with Carolina Salazar of Dishigood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolina Salazar.

Hi Carolina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I discovered my passion for the culinary arts while studying in San Francisco in 2013, where I was inspired by the vibrant food scene and the creative possibilities of cooking. At the same time, I partnered with my mother to launch EATbonappetit, her restaurant in Nicaragua, and this experience motivated me to attend culinary school in Madrid, Spain.

After completing my studies, I returned to Nicaragua to work with my mother but eventually had to move to Miami due to the political situation in my country. With no plan, I began posting menus on my Instagram page, offering around ten items sold by the pound to make people’s lives easier and provide delicious food that could be stored in the fridge throughout the week. Meanwhile, I worked at several restaurants in Miami and learned from outstanding chefs in the city.

In February 2022, I decided to turn my casual business into something more official and established DISHIGOOD LLC, launching the website dishigood.com to offer healthy, wholesome, and tasty meals to people and families in the area. A year later, I even created an app available on the app store. My mission has always been to deliver high-quality food that makes the upcoming week a little easier, with meals that can be reheated or eaten straight from the fridge after a busy workday.

Continuously striving to improve and grow, I recently completed a nutrition course and am now certified in the field, ensuring that everything I offer at Dishigood is not only delicious but also beneficial to health.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely been a smooth road along the way. There have been a few struggles though like learning how to manage my time on days that I cook.

The food that we make at Dishigood is as fresh as it can be since we purchase, cook, and deliver all on the same day.

It has been a bit difficult sometimes when I get many orders and I have a certain time frame that I have to meet in order to deliver everything on time.

As you know, we’re big fans of Dishigood LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Dishigood is a healthy meal delivery service in Miami that aims to provide convenient, nutritious meals to health-conscious individuals. Our menu is inspired by global cuisine, and we use locally sourced, fresh ingredients to create flavorful, colorful, and balanced meals. Our service is tailored to busy individuals who prioritize health and convenience, including professionals, students, and families.

Miami is a diverse city with a thriving health and wellness culture. The meal delivery service industry is growing rapidly and our goal is to help people who do not have time to cook and want to maintain a healthy lifestyle at the same time. Additionally, our service will cater to customers with specific dietary requirements, including vegan, gluten-free, and vegetarian. Dishigood offers a diverse menu of healthy meals, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner options. Our menu is designed in a way so that our customers can create their own meals by choosing from a variety of proteins, sides, soups, salads, and more!

I think what sets us apart from any other delivery service is the fact that you can create your own meal from all the options we offer on our menu. Now with our app (dishigood.com/app), you can even learn about the nutritional value of every dish on our menu.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Covid-19 was what moved me and made me decide to launch this service. I saw the need for healthy comforting food delivered straight to your door. This was when I decided to start posting menus on my Instagram page and there was a lot of demand for this service.

An important lesson I learned in these times was how to slow down. I was living a really fast-paced life with a job in the restaurant industry in Miami, working night shifts, and having to find balance. The day I got covid I was obligated to settle down. I learned how important it is to rest and sometimes disconnect and just be with myself.

Pricing:

  • Our meals range from $14-20 dollars
  • Delivery fee depends on where you live but it ranges from $4-8 dollars
