Inspiring Conversations Madeleine Martin and Vanessa Shemesh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madeleine Martin and Vanessa Shemesh. They and their team shared their story with us below:

Founded by two women, (Madeleine & Vanessa) determined to help change the leadership gap in our industry, and how our social initiatives will be a driving force behind our new agency.

Made and Vane met some time ago, after coming from working in the fashion and luxury industry in the Latin American market.

Madeleine – After 5 years working for the communications and PR department in Chanel Latin America, Madeleine was leaving Panama behind and moving to Madrid to start an MBA.

Vanessa – on the other hand, used to work for a PR agency for 5 years and later on worked for Tiffany & Co. for 2 years, leading the marketing department for Colombia and Panama.

Madeleine and Vanessa met in Panama during an event they worked on together in 2018 and keep in contact till nowadays.

Mave Studio was born in June 2022, with the intention of helping brands grow, educate themselves, and make the best decisions to compete within the global fashion and luxury industry. We aim to provide our clients with all the tools to create a business and brand in an organic and authentic way. We want to leverage the experience gained from our careers in the luxury and fashion industry in the Latin American region (LATAM) to expand that knowledge and assist different growing brands in structuring their path.

Life has allowed us to bring our personalities and social spheres into our work and to utilize them to the fullest. Not only professionally, but also personally, both of us are always on the move, meeting people in a very real way, and genuinely showing how passionate we are about fashion, Latin America, art & design.

We love building relationships and connecting with people around us, always aiming to help others grow. That’s why since its foundation in June 2022, Mave has been well-received in the market and has received excellent word-of-mouth referrals. The growth of Mave has been organic, and we are incredibly grateful for the way the market has embraced us, and for fulfilling the dreams we aspire to achieve for Mave and for brands in Latin America and beyond.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As we said before, Mave has had tremendous organic growth, however, of course, as with any new business it has been a challenge and it has had its ups and downs. Looking at it as an opportunity, we are constantly learning and growing every day. We have good days and some bad ones of course.  One of our hardest challenge was starting the business in different continents, (Madeleine based in Madrid & Vanessa in Bogota) of course, time difference does impact our day to day work but lot’s of organisation and communication helps lot. What work for us is always having a trip planned to know we will see each other and work together sooner than later. Sometimes it can be very overwhelming but in the end, it’s very satisfying and fulfilling to look at all the achievements and realize it’s possible, the world is literally our oyster.

In Mave it is always necessary to have small breaks to talk about other things and distract each other, not everything can be work 24/7. Mostly when you are two entrepreneurs starting a business and doing absolutely everything, we always say we are all the departments in two people, finance, marketing, HR, everything! It is also important to acknowledge that you can’t do everything alone. Part of growing includes bringing new people into the team and learning how to be a good leader and delegate effectively to foster team growth and educate those who are starting their careers in any professional field.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Mave Studio?
Our services are focused on PR, events, influencer marketing, creative direction, and communications consultancy.

We want to break the stereotype agencies have and become that kind of agency amiga ¨friend¨. We want to be approachable, intimate, and trustworthy, and most specifically we really want to see Latin brands grow and be successful around the world! That makes us very happy and proud!

What matters most to you? Why?
We have so much talent in Latin America and we want to put our names and other ones up there where they should be. Our top priority is delivering results to our clients. We always strive to ensure that our clients can see a positive difference in their brand’s behaviour after working with us. We are always honest about what we can achieve for a brand and what may be beyond our capabilities.

We acknowledge that we are not perfect and are aware of the investment and effort required for a brand or entrepreneur to invest in these types of strategies. Therefore, we always act with transparency. If we are not the right agency for a particular brand, we will either refer them to someone who may be a better fit or provide advice that we believe can help them achieve their goals before investing in a PR agency
