Today we’d like to introduce you to Elaina Whorley.
Hi Elaina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I started with a broken heart fresh out of a failed relationship, into the open mic venues, and then performing at paid events, and I just kept going, and now I’m here, and still in motion upward.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been tough and easy. Tough because I get hard to be consistent and not see the level of success that I want. But it’s easy because I love to perform spoken word and it comes naturally to me.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a known spoken word artist here in South FL. I specialize in combing my poetry with my ability to sing soulfully, and I love performing with my live band and background singers that sing the original hooks that are woven into my poems.
It makes for a beautiful sound and feeling to the ones experiencing it and to me the gifted. What sets me apart is the anointing of Jesus Christ. The Bible teaches us that those who are anointed have been set apart!
What were you like growing up?
I have a poem that says. I have always been a leader. I always stood out. When I was a child, I always spoke very loudly. I didn’t always wait my turn. But I always spoke very proudly and my momma never hushed me. As a matter of fact, I thought it was the way we talk.
So that little something extra you see in my step is just the way we walk. I was brought up in the fear of god. So that means I learned to keep him first.
