Hi Khari, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hello, my name is Khariyon Taylor also known by my stage name Ms. K the start of 2022 when I discovered who I was meant to be in this world. As I was catching up with my good friend and explaining to him how I changed my major from Health Science to New Film & Media. My friend hearing this and understanding certain qualities about me that I yet didn’t understand about myself, would ultimately invite me to be a cohost on his radio show TheMorningAfterRadio. After a few episodes I fell in love with the microphone, and I knew this was the job for me. Once I fully transitioned into a radio personality the immense amount of positive feedback that the show received truly solidified my knack for communication.
A variety of rising musicians would also see my abilities and acquire to be a guest on TheMorningAfterRadio show such as Majornine, FCG, Heem, Rico Cartel, and many more. Different organizations on campus would get wind of my natural ability on the microphone and would contact me to host their events. The first event I hosted was a student government entrepreneur expo where I would present speakers and community activists. This seamless transition from radio to stage host piqued my interest and showed me a different avenue where I can put my skills on full display.
As time progressed and my radio show captivated audiences more opportunities would arise. A couple of the events that I hosted were various amount of fashion shows, pageants, our Greek showcase, the annual step show, and many more. After completing these events I would then pursue my DBA to make me an officially licensed host.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, run into a few difficulties with equipment not working properly.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a radio personality and host for stage events. What set me apart is my bubbly personality to keep any crowd engaged including making everyone feel good with good laughter. I’m known as Ms. K my stage name.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
The biggest thing I see is owning my own radio station including hosting the Grammys, BET Awards, etc.
