Inspiring Conversations with Sabrina Gelsinger-Rodorigo of Holistic Healing and Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Gelsinger-Rodorigo.

Hi Sabrina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My name is Sabrina and I am a Registered Clinical Social Worker Intern, yoga teacher, Reiki practitioner, and jewelry artist. I received a Master of Social Work in 2021 and have 5+ years of experience working extensively with adults and children experiencing trauma from sexual, physical, and emotional abuse, foster care, domestic violence, homelessness, immigration, grief, and loss. I have taught trauma-informed yoga to women and men in substance use recovery and mental health facilities. Through my own healing journey, I have truly valued the benefits of trauma therapy, yoga, and Reiki. I am passionate to share these offerings with others.

My desire to integrate clinical and holistic practices began in 2014 when I started my yoga journey. I initially practiced yoga as a way to cope with stress during undergrad. Although I didn’t know it at the time exactly, the true reason was much deeper – I was looking for a way to connect back to my body and teach myself safety after traumatic experiences. During my college years, I spent a lot of time trying to find myself – trying out different classes and majors. It wasn’t until I found Sociology that I was quickly introduced to and inspired by Social Work. I was fortunate to learn from professors that were equally passionate and encouraging. I remember showing up to one of my favorite professor’s office hours confused and not sure what I wanted to do with my education or life one day.

They asked me if I considered social work and thought I’d be really good at it. From there, I followed what I was passionate about – advocating for and listening to children and teens who experienced abuse and neglect. I served as a Guardian Ad Litem and interned at a Child Advocacy Center. Every moment and connection seemed to click. As I grew deeper into my yoga practice and attended therapy as a client, I watched my inner world shift with the gifts of mindfulness. In 2019, I found a yoga teacher training program that specialized in trauma-informed yoga. For years, I considered pursuing YTT, but each time I looked at a program, the alignment seemed to be off. This time, the training found me. I learned so much about trauma and how it can affect our minds, body, and spirit. I dreamt of integrating these tools therapeutically one day. As I continued into the YTT program, spirituality played a larger role in my journey. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I began to work with crystals and launched a jewelry business, “Shanti Stones” to offer jewelry to meditate with and wear. This expanded to offer “Resilience Yoga” a year later, and so Holistic Healing and Wellness with Sabrina LLC came to be.

During my MSW program, I was fortunate to blend yoga and trauma work together in various ways with two Miami non-profits that provide exposure therapy and holistic services. Today, I am grateful to still be a part of both organizations servicing the Miami-Dade community. After I graduated from the MSW program, I enrolled in a Reiki training class taught by a fellow social worker. Every experience has come together for me in divine timing and has been not only helpful for working with clients but one of my greatest teachers too.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Holistic Healing and Wellness?

Together, we’ll integrate psychotherapy and holistic modalities to empower you to own your story, increase coping skills, and connect to your body with compassion. In our sessions, you can expect me to listen to you without judgment, honor your strengths, and provide a safe and supportive space for your healing journey. Together, we’ll shift a thought that commonly occurs after trauma from “What is wrong with me?” to “What has happened to me?”

Healing from trauma doesn’t mean you’ll forget the memories, but it can change how you relate to and feel about them. You may gain new insight, lessons, and a sense of freedom from feeling stuck. Feelings of powerlessness and hopelessness can transform into strength, peace, and worthiness.

We specialize in guiding you to:

– Heal from trauma and PTSD
– Recover from sexual, physical, and emotional abuse
– Overcome anxiety and depression
– Enhance your mind, body, and spirit connection
– Strengthen the relationship with your inner child
– Embrace all of your parts and tell your story.

Therapy approaches we offer Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Traumatic Incident Reduction (EMDR), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBR).
