Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Williams.
Hi Ashley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’m a highly motivated professional with an educational background in law. My story starts with the core morals and values instilled by my mother. Her teachings about the importance of education, community, and self-preservation has always been apart of my foundation. There’s a saying that has always resonated with me “don’t wait, start today,” I honestly feel like this implies to my journey. The Posh Way was started by just having a meaningful conversation about giving back. Shortly after, The Posh Way was honored to award 3 deserving students at my Alma Mater, Florida A&M University with scholarships. That same passion has led to a fruitful collaboration between The Posh Way and Miami Northwestern Sr. High (my mother’s and my Alma Mater) where each year we award the Desiree Walker Scholarship to a deserving senior in the amount of $1k. From these significant moments, God has done more than I ever could have imagined. He continues to plant ideas within me and bring opportunities to my door regarding The Posh Way, including this interview. That in itself shows the impact The Posh Way has on the community, and for that I’m so humbled and grateful.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing worth having comes easy. I can definitely say there’s been many challenges along the way. For instance, when I first started out It was slightly difficult getting my vision across to some people, they couldn’t see the bigger picture. On the other hand, there were times when accumulating donations to gather resources needed, The Posh Way surpassed its goal. In retrospect, from these experiences I approach life with a more positive mindset. I find teachable lessons in all aspects and build from them both good and bad; hardship and success. My family, friends, and donors have made The Posh Way’s journey a success. They’ve donated, collaborated, and they have ALWAYS supported me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Posh Way’s focus is community outreach for women and young girls. I ensure to incorporate our young men periodically as well. We specialize in instilling a great sense of encouragement, grace, and confidence in all women and girls in our community through advocacy and activism.
The Posh Way is known for educational assistance and guidance through scholarships and grants. The Posh Way prides itself on active movement within our communities through women and girl empowerment. For example our most recent event “Divine Sisterhood.” A women empowerment brunch in collaboration with, The Brunch Circle, in which we provided resources to women with our key emphasis being self-care, nutrition, mental health, and more.
I’m most proud of the continuous impact The Posh Way has on the community. It’s my hope to be a pillar of my community in the foreseeable future and continue inspiring the next generation of leaders. I’m truly humbled by the direction that God is leading me into.
What makes me unique is my distinct outlook toward helping others. My eagerness to form bonds with women and girls from different walks of life truly gives me a sense of purpose. I embrace them with understanding, patience, my continued presence, and support throughout their journey because that is what truly matters most to me.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the cultural diversity of our city, there are so many amazing people to grow and learn from. In contrast, the highway traffic would have to be my least favorite. I think we can all agree and say that the traffic is horrible.
