Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatiana Rodriguez and Kobie Simmons.
Hi Tatiana and Kobie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
We started in July of 2020, during the pandemic. During this time restaurants were mainly open for takeout and not receiving much customers for dine-in after Florida allowed a certain amount of capacity of 25-50%. Before creating our page, we were going to many local spots, we would post it on our main Instagram stories and would get asked 4-9 times “where is this” and “how was it”. Eventually, our family and friends encouraged us to start a page. We posted our first TikTok and it was a couple style TikTok just sharing how long we have been together and I didn’t think it would get five likes and three days later I went to open the app and it had thousands of views and we were encouraged to make more videos. Our first food video was at Puffles in Hollywood Beach, then Mr. Shrimp and the likes and views came in. We were on a grind. We kept posting and adding music if you go all the way on our page; we started off with no music and barely any edits. We went from not being consistent for months in 2022 to posting now every other day. We really believe you should keep working towards your goals even when you don’t feel like it or it gets hard. We have gone from 5,000 followers on Instagram in December 2022 to 21,000 in mid-January 2023. We’re so happy with the difference we have been able to make to small businesses and can’t wait for what this year has in store for us.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t always been easy, sometimes it was hard to find time to find places, go there, edit the videos, etc. We do not get paid from videos so we still have full-time jobs, school, and just life in general.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We’re foodies, well we feel like almost everyone is a foodie at heart. We are actual content creators or South Florida food influencers. We specialize in showcasing restaurants right here in South Florida that maybe you never heard of, your favorite spots, or the places you’ve always wanted to go but haven’t been able to go. We’re most proud of messages we receive from businesses thanking us and letting us know their business has been impacted in a positive way from our videos. What sets us apart from others is that we try to specialize in supporting small businesses that aren’t really being showcased.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Life is about exploring other cultures and coming together as people and spreading love and positivity no matter what. Also, if you have a goal, focus and stick to a plan.
