Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeronimo Gauna.
Hi Jeronimo, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’m 26 and I consider myself a person of many trades. I’m passionate about most things on earth, including fine art. Among them architecture and painting are my favorites. That is why I always had the desire to combine my passion for art and architecture in my work, which led me to pursue a formal education in architecture at the National University of Architecture and Urbanism of the Northeast in Argentina. While I was studying architecture, I took time to travel and get inspiration for my art. I visited different countries and cities around the world, immersing myself in different cultures and experiencing new perspectives. This period of travel was a formative experience for me, as it allowed me to see the world in a different light and gather inspiration for my future artworks.
I currently live in Miami and dedicate myself fully to my artistic career working with other artists and designers to create a vibrant and dynamic community here. I consider myself living my dream of “staining the world”, finding opportunities to share my lines wherever I go. I am actively working on new projects and exhibitions focused on continuing to develop and evolve my lines. I coined the term “dragon wings” to describe my artistic style, which reflects the complexity and beauty of nature and the dragon as a symbol of power and mystery. My style is characterized by a combination of fine art and design, with a focus on creating patterns and lines that convey a sense of chaos but ultimately find beautiful order.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Pursuing a career as an artist and making my mark on the world is not a smooth road. Particularly when it involves being away from my family and living in a foreign country has presented its own set of challenges, such as language barriers, cultural differences, and navigating a new social and professional landscape.
Despite these challenges, I have been determined to make a name for myself in the art world and pursue my passion for creating art. I have had to work hard to overcome these obstacles and establish myself as a talented and innovative artist in Miami. This has involved networking, building relationships with other artists and galleries, and continuously promoting and showcasing my work.
It’s important to note that the journey of an artist is not easy, and it often involves a lot of hard work, dedication, and sacrifice, and it’s not guaranteed to be successful. However, my passion for art and my determination to succeed has helped me overcome these challenges and achieve my dream of living from my art and leaving my mark on the world.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My artistic production is characterized by the ability to combine fine art and design, creating a balance of contradictions in my pieces and evoking emotions in my audience using traditional and modern techniques, such as the use of digital tools in combination with traditional painting techniques. The term “dragon wings” refers to the intricate patterns and lines that are a distinctive feature of my work. These lines and patterns convey a sense of chaos, but ultimately find beautiful order through bold, vibrant lines to create a sense of movement and fluidity. I pursue my dream of “staining the world” and my Dragon Wings are the vehicle of my journey.
I am looking to broaden my audience to share my message “YOU WERE BORN TO CREATE” with the whole world because I believe that everyone has the potential to be creative. By sharing my message and my own personal journey, I want to empower people to take control of their own lives, to pursue their passions and dreams, regardless of the obstacles they may encounter. I want to inspire them to awaken their inner artist, to take risks, and to explore their own creativity. My message is not only for the artists, but for everyone, because I believe that art can be a powerful tool for self-discovery, healing, and personal growth.
Being unique and standing out in the world of art is not an easy task, and it is the result of a lot of work and dedication. My passion for my lines and my determination to follow my dreams have helped me overcome challenges and create a unique style, which is a reflection of my personal journey and dedication to my craft and that is what makes me proud.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I took many risks to pursue my dream of living from my art and it has been an incredible journey. One of the biggest risks I took was leaving my formal education in architecture to fully dedicate myself to my passion for art. It was a bold decision, but one that I made with great conviction, knowing that my true calling was in art and that it brought me a sense of personal fulfillment that was unmatched.
Another risk I took was traveling to a foreign country, where I had to start from scratch and build my reputation and following. This was a challenging and humbling experience, but one that ultimately allowed me to grow as an artist and to be exposed to new perspectives and inspirations.
I also took the risk of developing my own unique style, which wasn’t easy, but it was a risk that I knew was necessary to take in order to create something truly unique, something that reflected my personal journey and my dedication to my craft. And that’s exactly what I achieved.
Additionally, I also took risks in terms of the types of projects I chose to undertake, such as large-scale murals and personalized objects, which were not as common as other types of artworks, but I believed in my work and my vision, I took this challenge and it has paid off, bringing me recognition and success in the art world, but more importantly, it brought me a sense of personal fulfillment that is truly priceless.
Overall, I took many risks to pursue my dream of living from my art and it has been an incredible journey of personal growth and fulfillment.
& I do this because when we take risks, we open ourselves up to the possibility of failure, but it is through this failure that we learn and grow. It is also through taking risks that we are able to access personal fulfillment. When we take risks and step out of our comfort zone, we are able to experience the excitement and joy of achieving something that we never thought possible. This sense of accomplishment and personal fulfillment is what makes life worth living.
In summary, taking risks in life is important because it allows us to grow, learn and push beyond our limitations. It is through taking risks that we are able to access personal fulfillment and truly discover who we are and what we are capable of achieving.
