Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Grace.
Hi Alicia, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I was 11 years old, I saw an advertisement for a horseback riding summer camp at a local school. I told my mother I would like to attend. She replied that I would not enjoy the camp because it was English riding and not Western style, which I was familiar with. Nonetheless, she signed me up. I was immediately smitten with riding and began taking formal English riding lessons on Long Island. I continued riding and horse-showing throughout childhood and during college in Dallas, TX. During college, I was offered an opportunity to teach beginner horseback riding lessons at a local stable. I learned the ins and outs of running a lesson program and summer camp. I moved to Wellington, Florida in 2011 to finish my undergraduate education and continued riding at a dressage facility. After receiving my master’s in Psychology, I briefly pursued a career in hospitality. In 2013, I started Pink Flamingo Stables. We offer riding lessons and trail riding to the public, regardless of experience level. Our name reflects our farm’s accepting and cheery nature. We welcome all individuals with a desire to learn.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
One of the greatest challenges I have faced running an equestrian business is this profession does not have a typical 9 am-5 pm schedule. Horses are an enormous commitment and require comprehensive and extensive upkeep. In addition to being fed and exercised daily, they must have routine farrier and veterinary work. It is a tremendous labor of love.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Pink Flamingo Stables, LLC?
We are a horseback riding lesson and trail riding business in Lake Worth, Florida. We offer instruction to children and adults of all ages. We are open to the public, by appointment, seven days a week. We teach proper rider biomechanics and how humans and horses can work together to form a harmonious partnership. We offer safe and comprehensive riding instruction on well-trained lesson horses.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
We love our horses. They are our best business partners and friends. We strive to remain humble and learn from them daily.
