Rising Stars: Meet Al Pizzle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Al Pizzle.

Hi Al, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
“Tita! Sube el volumen! Grandma put the volume up!” Born & raised in Paterson, NJ, and of Colombian decent, I’ve always had a passion for music for as long as I can remember. My original dream was to become a professional soccer player. Clearer that didn’t work out…LOL! But deep down, I knew that music would become a key element & eventually priority in my life. At 12 years old, I started working to save money for my first DJ equipment. In high school, I DJ’d & threw a lot of parties, and ran a “chocolate cartel” to help my mom with bills and to save money for better equipment. At the same time, I developed my love for radio while listening to Alex Sensation every day, which ignited my dream of one day becoming a premier radio personality.

Fast forward a little bit, I did my thing on the radio!

With my radio journey, I started as an intern for AJ El Kallejero at 93.1 Amor in NYC. Afterwards, I became a part of then 92.3 AMP Radio’s “Shoboy In The Morning” in New York City for a few years. Next thing I know, I get an offer to host my own show in Miami with HITS 97.3. I was DJing and hosting radio shows in Miami on the weekends to start off, and then less than a year later, I got another offer to host my own weekday night show for a couple years, followed by yet another offer to co-host a prime-time morning show on the same station! After 10 years in radio, I can absolutely say that I have accomplished my DJing and radio dreams.

Those are just the highlights of those times, but it all came with plenty of struggle throughout it all. Being homeless, being broke, broken down cars, eviction, you name it. But through my Lord and savior Jesus Christ, He got me through it all and more!

Now, I’m on my musical journey for the last few years. Since I was a kid, I’ve always dreamed about bringing a crowd together to perform fun and vulnerable records for people to unite and vibe to. Thank God, that dream has been slowly coming to life!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Well, I just mentioned it in the previous question lol. On top of battling depression and suicidal thoughts at times, going through an eviction, being homeless, being broke, the car that I was living in breaking down and becoming useless, heartbreak after heartbreak. But there wasn’t an obstacle in my life that GOD couldn’t guide me through! I thank Him for the resiliency that he’s given me throughout my life.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My life is based around my FOUR crafts:

Radio: I have been a radio personality for over 10 years between New York City and Miami. I’ve been blessed to be able to talk to hundreds of thousands of people on their daily commutes and be able to bring smiles and laughter to them, as well as DJ during my radio shows as well!

DJ: I have been DJing since I was 12 years old, which equals to 18 years of doing this! (Math time, if you want to know how old I am! Lol) I’ve DJed and opened up for Don Omar, Zion y Lennox, Plan B, Hector Acosta, Alex Sensation, Chainsmokers, Dillon Francis, etc. And recently I have opened up my own company (@PizzleProductionsLLC) that has a central focus on entertainment for weddings in the southeastern region of the United States. So, if you’re getting married or you know someone who is, then holla at ya boy! I’ll set you up!

Artist/Musician: My most active dream turned goal is my music. I have been locked in the studio for the last two years building my portfolio in preparation for 2023. Tons of my music and music videos will be dropping throughout the year, and I pray through music, I’ll be in a position to bring strangers together and experience beautiful memories to remember forever!

And lastly, Motivational Speaker: I truly believe that it is my calling to speak LIFE into people! Life is all about who speaks life into you. When you speak life into somebody and remind them who they are, it can change the trajectory of their life. It doesn’t matter if it’s in a professional setting or at the club. I want to pour LIFE and LOVE into you. I want God to take me to places where He can use me to ignite a beautiful fire inside of someone’s troubling mind and heart. It’s never too late for a new beginning, and I take pride in being able to use my gifts of connecting in order to lift those around me.

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Too many to name. But first one that came to mind was being with my family when the Colombian national soccer team won the Copa America in 2001. I was 9 years old; we went straight to 21st Ave in Paterson, NJ where ALL the Colombians were at and partied like we were 21. LOL
