Today we’d like to introduce you to Liudmyla Krotova.
Hi Liudmyla, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Liudmyla Krotova. Many people call me Mila; it’s my shortened name. I am Ukrainian. My career story began with the fact that I went to the eyebrows tattoo procedure as far back as 2016 and that was unfortunate; my eyebrows were as asymmetrical as very dark! After this incident, I realized that I won’t trust my eyebrows to anyone else. My best friend taught me how to dye the eyebrows by myself and other related techniques. Since then, I went through a lot of training and upgrading. I began to participate the championships. As a matter of a fact each of my Ukrainian championships, there were more than 10, brought me the awards. I achieved 17 awards and medals for the eyebrows and special prizes for the best works since 2017-2018. It seemed not enough for me, that is how I became a make up artist. The client were so happy with my new skills. That’s why the decision of taking part in the Ukrainian makeup championships came easily to my mind. I got good results at once. After that, I was accepted into the Ukrainian Association of Professionals. Meanwhile, I was invited to participate and show my skills in the prestigious World Championship OMCHairWorld, which was held in Paris in 2019. Preparing and practicing the complex techniques in makeup art on the models, just imagine how exciting it was on the world arena, where were involved more than 50 countries.
The competition is extremely high. There came X Day, I was excited the performance at the championship field, only 40 minutes for work, and I took the 5th place in the category Creative Makeup. I stood on the stage holding the flag of Ukraine and I felt very happy that I was bringing home the victory! In 2020 OMCHairWorld was the World Online Championship because of the coronavirus, so I decided to take part in it as well. My ambition was having no end, I really wanted to be first in this championship. The preparation was made by my own designs, which I’m proud. I prepared a high-level work for the championship. Shortly on New Year’s Eve, the results were announced, and can you imagine how I cried when I heard my name in the winners! I took 2nd place out of 110 entries in the world. It was something unreal that I have done it, I was getting closer to my dream! After that, I couldn’t stop thinking about being the first in this World championship.
The next championship was in 2021; as you can guess I participated, I was getting closer to my dream. For that time, I chose the most difficult category Stage Makeup, preparing the sketch, choosing the right model and I did it. One more time X Day came. When the results of the championship were announced, here it was, the long-awaited first place in the most complicated makeup. Hooray! I’m the world and European champion at omchairworld. For such short period of time from 2018-2022 my life was completely changed. I became an Expert Master in Ukraine, International Master, National team coach, championship judge. I prepare and continue to prepare participants for the Ukrainian Championships; my students are the champions of Ukraine, World, and Europe in the makeup.
At this point, I moved to Miami through the war in my country. And wherever I am, I always enhancing this world with beauty, teaching, and doing it with love because if you don’t love what you do, there won’t be any results. My story demonstrates how to achieve your goals. How you can climb the career ladder from an ordinary master to the expert master. Championships give you a lot: firstly, its stress resistance; secondly, its speed, and as a result of the work done.
If you want to be the first in something, you have to work for your dream, and everything will work out! I believe in you!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It was a difficult road the road to victory and to be a leader. To be successful you have to work hard.
