Exploring Life & Business with Andrea Macias of BOLD Events by Andrea Macias

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Macias.

Hi Andrea, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My journey started as a 24-year-old planning her own wedding. I quickly dove into all the meetings, the tastings, the inquiries and I had a natural eye and instinct for it. Fast forward six months and I was going through a divorce, unhappy at my corporate healthcare desk job, and desperate for change. I reached out to any contacts I had in the event industry, including my wedding planner Christy Lizana and my photographer Danielle Margherite, in hopes of finding the bridge I needed to cross over to that industry. I am so thankful that I was not only given the opportunity to work with Christy but also Alianne Valladares-Prieto and Cristy Lloveras, three incredible planners here in Miami. They have been extremely impactful in my journey to where I am today. From April of 2022 to now I have been a part of seventeen different events, from weddings to birthdays to art shows. My growth this past year is just further proof that that I can push myself so much further than I think. Now, just a short year later from where my journey started, I am happy, busy, and excited for what’s to come for me.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I don’t think anyone thinks their road to success is easy. I’m no different. I didn’t always see myself as an entrepreneur, a hustler, someone who can run their own business. For a long time, I tried to convince myself a standard 9-5 with security made me happy, but that wasn’t anywhere near true. I quit my secure, insurance-providing, and comfortable job at the University of Miami, which was a dream in it of itself, with no plan. I had one wedding scheduled to assist but other than that, no income lined up and no jobs coming in. I spent two months finding work where I could. I did some content work for an esthetician all while I was outreaching to other planners, building my social media, and trying to put a plan in to place on how I can make this work. I dealt with a lot of self-doubt, and I always questioned if I should keep on. I landed my first event working with a Web3 studio and the momentum kept going from there. It got to a point I was working 40-hour weeks in a matter of days to make my new dream reality. I can’t begin to express how important it is to KEEP GOING. KEEP PUSHING. If you feel it in your gut that you are meant to do something don’t let anything stop you. Make it happen for yourself.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about BOLD Events by Andrea Macias?
This couldn’t have come at a better time if I’m being honest. I originally started my business under “AM.Curations” and after such an incredible year, and with the help of my good friend Carolina Gonzalez and her company The PR Influence, I’ve rebranded to a new name to better serve clients.

So, Welcome everyone to BOLD Events by Andrea Macias. BOLD was born in a text thread between Carolina and I. We were trying to brainstorm a new name; a new brand and I sent her the text “I want to be BOLD.” As soon as I sent the text something clicked and immediately, she replied “…what if that’s the name”. When you know, you know.

BOLD x AM is an event consulting and planning company that specializes in experiences. From weddings to music shows to proposals to community events. From concept to complete execution my passion is brining your vision to life. I specialize in event planning, styling, management, sponsorship outreach and so much more. There is so much more to an event than just marking off the box on your checklist. I bring my own passion to your project. I take pride in working with clients who share the same values and vision as I do, which makes the creative process not only easier, but it makes it FUN for everyone. I created my brand and my company because life deserves to be celebrated.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I used to always think of myself as someone who didn’t have the best luck. I always felt like I had to work harder to get what I wanted, and things just didn’t come easy for me. I quickly realized I needed to change my mindset. If I wanted to be successful and if I wanted to make this work, I needed to make a shift. I can’t say that it was easy or happened overnight but what I can say is seeing life through a different and “lucky” lens changed my life. Call it a placebo effect. I really accepted this change in shift by opening myself up to opportunity, personally and professionally. I started going to events on my own, I started dating again, and in that luck, found me! In August I got a text from a past hinge date, Jake, asking if he can pass over my information to his roommate who needed an event planner for something he was trying to put together for his own company. I had no idea this interaction would be just the luck I needed to push my business forward. I was put in to contact with Ben Couris and Adin Jacobs of Modern Edge Collective, a Web3 consulting firm and design studio based in South Florida, and we put together an incredible art show for Art Basel weekend in December. We had over 300 attendees, 10 different sponsors, and 5 artists who all were able to get art sold. I now have a long-term partners in Ben and Adin and an entire new industry I have my foot in. The connections I made with sponsors and artists are ones I can now always count on. I feel my luck every day and am so thankful for it.
