Today we’d like to introduce you to Neidy Parra.
Hi Neidy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Upon being inspired to take pictures of my lovely daughter in 2013, I soon realized that I was much more than a mom with a camera. I discovered my passion and have not looked back. I had always loved photography but never dreamed that my impact would grow to the level it has become. Ten years later my studio is focused on Maternity Photography and Mommy & Me Photography with 6 to 9-month-old babies. I specialize in working with women to find the best outfits, scenes, and poses that will complement their bodies and make them look amazing. I have had moms come from all over the United States and from other countries to do their maternity sessions with me. I thank all who have given me a chance to freeze moments of bliss from their lives and turn them into art.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The first 7 seven years, I worked mainly outdoor sessions, and the Miami sun, heat and humidity can be brutal. Also, in the first 5 years, my husband Alex worked full-time in banking, and we had to work many weekends all day. Rarely did we have a moment of rest. In 2017 he retired from banking and is now a full-time entrepreneur with me in our family-run business.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I realized early in photography that my specialty is in working with expectant mothers in their maternity sessions. I am known for being one of the best maternity photographers in the country and for having women come from all over the country and from outside the country to do their maternity sessions with me. Creating new ideas in maternity photography is what I love to do and I am honored that many photographers try to emulate what I create. That is the greatest compliment of all. I feel so good when other photographers from all over tag me on social media when they recreate images that I have done. What sets me apart from others is that my husband speaks to every mom when they contact us for information. This personalized touch is what our clients always rave about. Just texting client’s info can be very impersonal, and people still look for a personalized touch even in 2023. During the session, it is important for me to connect with the moms and make sure that they are super comfortable. I am most proud of competing in national-level photography PPA competitions and have been an award winner 2 years in a row. I also have an Instagram subscription program for photographers to learn from me. Last year I hosted workshops in Miami that brought photographers from all over the country to learn from me. I also do 1 on 1 mentoring with photographers who want a personalized class. It is important to teach what you know and have others grow.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Due to the success I have had and the following that I have created, I will be launching my own clothing label later this year. I will only use the finest quality of materials to help bring to reality the clothing creations that I have always wanted to create. It will be a line of spectacular activewear and swimsuits. So excited!
