Today we’d like to introduce you to Leanne Mitchell.
Hi Leanne, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine chose me. I feel every day that I was born to do this work. It is as familiar to me as my own breath. Every day, I am inspired and motivated to do this work because it feels like second nature to me, and I know that I am doing something every day that is purposeful and in alignment to help others without the use of pharmaceuticals or invasive treatments.
Early in my adult life, I began using acupuncture as a method to help with some gynecological issues I was having, and then shortly after amazing results, I then was introduced to a woman that I love to this day named Robin Saraswati Markus, who inspired me through her books, herbs, her grace and shared wisdom as acupuncture and Doctor of Chinese medicine. Then within a few years, I found myself renting a home from another woman who was an acupuncture physician. It seemed my life kept giving me little nudges to do this work but at the time I was more connected with working as a birth doula and an aspiring student midwife while also practicing massage therapy. Several years later I became a holistic esthetician while raising my young children. At the time I was inspired that it was time to take my accumulated knowledge, wisdom, and passion for helping others to the next level with the study of acupuncture and Chinese medicine and specialize in gynecology and fertility.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, I feel that building the business has been a smooth road. I believe that when you are doing something that you love to do, inspiration is a gift that comes along with that alignment and when you are inspired, life just unfolds a little more gracefully. If I were to give attention to any obstacles, I would say that they came from my own thoughts and self around fear of failure or fear of those days when the schedule wasn’t fully booked, or fear of what if I am not available and lose that next new patient. Fear in truth was a big fat liar but also a great teacher that taught me that pushing through the fear, seeing myself as worthy of building a successful acupuncture practice that not only myself could work at but other practioners could be successful at too was achievable. That when there is availability in the schedule, it offers me time to work on other things, or take some rest, or see where improvements can be made in the business or within myself. So, in truth, the biggest obstacles have always come from my own fear-based belief systems, and I am grateful to have had the courage to keep one foot in front of the other each day to grow the business.
As you know, we’re big fans of Acupuncture and Wellness of the Palm Beaches. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Acupuncture and Wellness of the Palm Beaches was created as a sacred space for healing, rejuvenating, and inspiring wellness through acupuncture, traditional Chinese medicine, integrative healing treatments such as cold laser therapy, frequency-specific microcurrent, ion foot detox, herbal foot soaks, and holistic medical skincare. We truly want everyone that comes here to feel amazing while also radiating beauty. Our patients range from those who want to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle, those in chronic or acute pain, people with emotional, hormonal, or weight management imbalances, and most of all, reproductive health regarding fertility, pregnancy, and menopausal years. At my office, we always laugh and say how blessed we are to have the nicest, most genuine clientele ever. We build long-term relationships with very meaningful patients, celebrating wins and grieving losses with them and inspiring them along their journeys.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
For those just starting out on their business journey I invite you to not let fear get in your way. If you are truly inspired by your work and feel passionate about sharing it with others, let fear go. Start and grow a business that doesn’t feel like “work.” Listen to inspiring podcasts or books that help keep you in a motivated mindset so that the fear chatter doesn’t have an opportunity to pay many visits. And lastly, my advice is to stay inspired in your work, learning new things that keep you at the top of your field of business.
