Meet Simi Anand

Today we’d like to introduce you to Simi Anand.

Hi Simi, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a young child, I was extremely creative and artistic and had a magnetic fascination for being on camera that could never be quenched.

I remember when I would come home from elementary school, I would instantly plop myself in front of my computer and start fiddling with iMovie.

I was fascinated with the idea of creating something from nothing and being able to bring my stories to life. Little Simi was so expressive, confident, and determined.

Despite my passion for creative pursuits, I was subconsciously programmed by the influences around me that the creative path wasn’t a “real job” and it couldn’t be taken seriously.

My parents immigrated from India, so they had a strong belief in traditional paths such as medicine, law, or engineering. As a result of this internal pressure, I was left feeling confused and blocked, but I wasn’t consciously aware of it.

So, for the majority of my teenage years, I based my worthiness on excelling in school. I was a great student, but inside I felt like I was living in a box and wasn’t being true to my passions.

Despite the traditional upbringing, my parents raised me with an entrepreneurial fire and exposed me to a variety of skillsets to strengthen my interpersonal development. It was one of my biggest interests.

When I was 15, I launched a nonprofit called Leadership Bytes with the aim of teaching leadership and emotional development skills to students aged 11-17. Through this experience, I noticed the creative spark for public speaking starting to ignite. I was deeply drawn to the idea of helping others grow and develop a deeper understanding of themselves.

Along the way, I began educating myself on social injustices related to women’s access to clean and safe water. I learned that an estimated 2.2 billion people struggle to access clean water and 844 million people around the world do not have access to basic drinking water services, most of whom are women who have to spend hours every day collecting unsafe water for their families.

When I learned about this global crisis, I felt deep within my core that this was something I needed to champion. Soon, I became an advocate for social justice issues, as well as a catalyst for change in the lives of others by using digital media platforms and becoming the founder of an organization called Environment for Humanity.

These endeavors reignited a new-found sense of self-confidence, power, and purpose within me, which gave me the courage to start utilizing social media. And at 18 years old, I was nominated as a Bank of America Student Leader and got accepted to the University of Florida.

But despite these external achievements, something still felt icky and misaligned. I noticed that I had many mental blocks when it came to pursuing a traditional medical school path. But this was the plan I had since I was 14, so I had no clue what my alternatives were.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t until COVID hit that I began questioning my entire life existence and life purpose.

I began losing interest in all my lectures and went from being a straight-A student to a C student. I was no longer seeing the point in doing something that didn’t bring me any joy, and this eventually made me spiral into deep depression because of the pressure I was placing on myself to figure my life out.

I remember one evening, I sat down at the dinner table with my parents in tears after I told them I could no longer pursue medical school.

Although the 20-year-old version of myself had no idea what I wanted to do professionally, little Simi did know that she wanted to live her life with purpose, passion, and courage. I had to dig deep within myself for strength, courage, and resilience knowing I was going against the grain of what society perceived as ‘success.’

So, I decided to listen to that voice.

My parents, who are the most supportive two people I know, were extremely compassionate and understanding. My dad told me, “If you want to change direction, then go for it! We believe in you”. It was a serious discussion, but in that moment, something clicked inside me.

That night marked a turning point in my life where I made a commitment to relentless personal growth.

That night I decided to take my destiny into my own hands and create the life I wanted for myself.

While in college during my sophomore year, I began pouring myself into self-development and would share the lessons with my tiny community. No one was watching my videos at the time, but I kept going anyway because it felt right.

During this time, my entire personality and interests took a full 180 shift. I went from being the girl who spend 5 nights a week out on the college town to the girl who locked myself in my apartment on Friday and Saturday nights so that I could read every single book I could get my hands on. I became obsessed with personal growth.

As much as I was evolving, the journey was really lonely as I began to feel like an outcast in college.

I felt like I had to put up a certain “mask” when hanging out with friends, which made me feel increasingly disconnected from myself. Yet, I knew this was the right thing to do because I was stepping into a version that I was proud of.

I decided that enough was enough and it was time to take action, living this new-found truth of mine. After spending over 7 years soaking up the learnings from the world’s greatest thought leaders in life, leadership, and entrepreneurship., I decided to unapologetically drop the need for external validation and instead share my story of transformation with the world—working towards creating a ripple effect that would help others unlock their full potential and impact the planet in a meaningful way.

I craved a community that understood me, and I wanted to be part of a collective that inspired me entrepreneurially and amplified my personal growth.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I launched a YouTube channel, started a podcast, and created consistent content on Instagram and TikTok where I would share stories, tips, strategies, and advice around leadership development, emotional intelligence, spirituality, and self-mastery. I was speaking from my heart as a 20-year-old girl who was finding myself, and soon my videos began to go viral. This gave me the confidence and courage to speak on larger stages, build an engaged community, and create my own coaching business to help others acquire the skillsets both personally and professionally.

I can confidently say without a shadow of doubt that through my commitment to self-development, I am now a thought leader, speaker, coach, entrepreneur, and up-and-coming author at 22 years old.

I’m also a brand strategist that specializes in helping creators, coaches, visionaries, and entrepreneurs amplify their influence and grow irreplaceable personal brands and conscious businesses.

My mission is to help conscious leaders leave an impact on the planet with their big message— one that resonates with people who are ready to take their lives to the next level and make a real difference in the world. Seeing my community build influential brands through conscious service lights my heart up like nothing else.

My story is proof that when you commit to your own expansion, life takes you on a journey and things start falling into place. There’s power in the intention of becoming something greater than who we are today and committing ourselves to the process of creating that version of ourselves.

Looking back, I realize that the passions I had as a little girl had never gone away–they were just dormant, waiting to be unleashed. By facing my fears and taking risks, I was able to transition from a timid, shy, and unconfident girl to a version of myself I’m so much more prouder of.

Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Fear of taking risk is a powerful and pervasive force that can hold us back from reaching our full potential. It can be like a dark cloud hanging over us, casting a shadow on our dreams and ambitions. At times, it can seem like an insurmountable obstacle standing in the way of our progress and success.

But the truth is fear of failure is something that we all experience to some degree.

It is a natural and necessary part of the human experience, and it is something that we must learn to embrace if we are to truly achieve greatness.

For entrepreneurs and content creators, the fear of failure can be particularly chronic.

These individuals are constantly taking risks and pushing themselves to the limit, and they often put their reputation, their livelihood, and even their personal well-being on the line in pursuit of their goals. But it is precisely this willingness to take risks and embrace the unknown that sets these individuals apart from the rest.

It is what allows them to innovate, to elevate, and to inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

So, if you are an entrepreneur or content creator struggling with risk-taking, remember this:

Fear is a natural and necessary part of the journey. It is a sign that you are pushing yourself, that you are striving for greatness, and that you are willing to take risks in pursuit of your dreams. Embrace your fear and use it as fuel to propel you forward. After all, it is only by facing our fears and overcoming them that we can truly achieve our potential and live the lives we were meant to live.

Taking risks has been a key factor in my success and transformation.

Time and time again, I faced the fear of failure but chose to take the leap anyway—not knowing what would come from it but knowing I had to take that risk if I wanted to get closer to my vision.

I’m a firm believer that the scariest dreams we feel called towards are the ones that are worth taking risks for, and that’s exactly what I did.

Fundamentally, fear of failure is just a fear of the unknown—a fear that we may not be able to handle whatever comes our way.

However, once I decided to move forward despite this fear, I started seeing incredible opportunities unfold in front of me and I experienced more success than ever before.

I also learnt that risk taking is about being brave enough to act despite the fear.

Courage isn’t something we strive towards, it’s something we already have within us, and it becomes amplified when we take action with intention.

My journey of taking risks has been truly life-changing and I know that it can be for others too.
