Exploring Life & Business with Ronald Mendez-MacFarland of Rudament Music Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronald Mendez-MacFarland.

Hi Ronald, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started off in church. I would play drums all over Philadelphia, and I eventually started to save up for a drum set of my own when my dad needed help with the bills, so I tried to get my money back, but the workers said I had to get something with the money.

That’s when I discovered beat machines. I picked one up with a pair of speakers. My dad got me a keyboard. I started bringing kids home from school to make music and started producing that way.

Eventually, the studio was calling as I needed more than what I had going at home. I found Live Tracks Multimedia Inc with Howard Jackson and that’s how I started producing for real.

52nd and Girard St.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth??? Hahaha. No…

I have been homeless, I had to build a manmade lake, cemented houses, and build Starbucks just to get from Florida to Boston. (Selling CDs in between for food money)

When I made it back to Boston, I started making music for everyone you could think of from 2003-2012.

Only person to do anything with my music was Kid Funky and Dimi Marc and they both charted.

One I Trinidad #1 Gospel Charts 2002′

One in USA #4 (college charts 2011)

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a musician, a songwriter, a voice coach, a composer, a sound director, an innovator, and a business owner.

I am a marketer of 10 years.

I have learned how to develop other businesses, and now I can help make any new clients who come to work with us get heard and get known across the music industry.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love that Miami is the Mecca for music on the East Coast right now.

I visited recently for a NASCAR event and was saddened to see the amount of homelessness in the city.
