Inspiring Conversations with Ashla Johnson of Couture Residential Advisors at Compass

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashla Johnson.

Hi Ashla, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in Delray Beach, and I’m a South Florida Native! I graduated from Atlantic High and then relocated to Atlanta for college and lived there for almost 10 years. I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Clark Atlanta University. Before transitioning into real estate full-time, I had around 10 years of sales and business experience collectively. In my very first role after graduating college, I traveled within designated territories presenting staffing solutions to C-Level executives of Fortune 500 & 1000 companies. I enjoyed working in corporate yet I was always somewhat entrepreneurial in spirit. This led to me starting a promotions company, and then a marketing and consulting firm to help start-up businesses. I had contracts with various clients in Atlanta and a local restaurant here in Deerfield Beach most recently.  Around the time I became a realtor, I also had a brief stint as a healthcare recruiter.

My experiences have translated well into my work in real estate. I’m passionate about the industry and being a trusted advisor to my clients as they undergo buying or selling such valuable assets. I love the sense of reward and satisfaction that comes along with assisting others to reach their goals. This year I celebrated my 5-year milestone of being a full-time agent. I also received my broker’s license and earned my Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist designation. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I am excited to see where I’ll be in the next 5 years!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road hasn’t been smooth and paved for me. After receiving my license, I had to keep working another position and continuously save until I was able to make the transition into real estate full-time. Once I was 100% in the business and just starting out there were times where I mismanaged my funds.  It may be 60-90 days or longer before taking a new client that I will earn income in most cases. In the beginning, I can remember when I was awaiting a commission check to pay my bills. Over the years, I’ve learned proper business planning as well as how to take actions that will make my income more predictable and consistent.

As you know, we’re big fans of Couture Residential Advisors at Compass. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m currently a Broker Associate with Compass I primarily service Palm Beach County and the surrounding areas. I also work in Broward County and North of Palm Beach in the Treasure Coast. I specialize in luxury waterfront condominiums, yet I service all clients within any price range or budget. South Florida is full of retirees, so I’m also extremely familiar with active adult communities. Whether it’s a traditional sale or something as complex as working with an executor of an estate or a divorce sale, my clients can rely on my skill and expertise to make the process seamless for them. I always strive to bring a high level of value and expertise to my clients who have selected me in such a heavily saturated and competitive field. I’m proud that the majority of my past clients have spoken so highly of my professionalism. With my team brand Couture, our goal is to deliver a higher level of service and results to those we serve- with some style of course.  We want our clientele to have the same sentiments as  shopping in Nordstrom or staying at the Ritz Carlton when they opt to use us. Ultimately the goal is to develop lasting relationships for years to come.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I’m not a huge believer of luck. We all have a collection of experiences in life, both good and bad. All of these experiences have helped to mold and shape me personally and professionally. Through applying daily disciplines, I’ve found consistent success through the compounding effect.  We have some control over our fate by taking the right actions!
