Check Out Lynn Morgan’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lynn Morgan. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Lynn Morgan has been creating art all of her life. Until she retired from the corporate world, art was one of her hobbies, but it was the only hobby that she never tired of. She knew that when she retired, she would reinvent herself as an artist, and that’s what she did. Lynn has a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management. She tried flying a plane, playing guitar and piano, playing golf, SCUBA diving, and sailing, but she always came back to painting (although she is also still an avid sailor).

She has studied with nationally-recognized artists Miroslav Antic, Terri Ford, Casey Klahn, Jen Evenhus, Aline Ordman, Tony Allain, Melinda Cootsona, and Jenny Nelson. Her style continues to move toward more abstraction in both landscape and figurative works. The latest in this evolution is the introduction of an exciting collection of abstract and non-objective works in oil and cold wax.

Lynn is a signature member of the National Association of Women Artists (N.A.W.A), the Artists Guild of the Boca Raton Museum of Art, the Florida Artists Group (FLAG), Women in the Visual Arts (WITVA), and the Martin Artisans Guild. She is a juried member of the Pastel Society of America. She exhibits both locally and nationally and has won awards at several exhibits. Lynn is currently represented by The Palm Room Art Gallery in Sewall’s Point, FL, and she teaches pastel classes and workshops at the Lighthouse ArtCenter in Tequesta, FL.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Life is never a smooth road. Working full-time and raising her daughter as a single mother was a struggle, and just trying to make a living as an artist is a constant struggle.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I started my professional art career after retirement from the corporate world. Although I have worked with acrylics and watercolors, I fell in love with pastels and created a full body of pastel works. I was frequently the only pastel artist in many exhibits.

During COVID, I decided to try working with oils and discovered working with oils mixed with cold wax. I have always yearned to paint more abstractly, and something about the oil and cold wax combination seemed to allow me the freedom to become a much more abstract painter. For the past couple of years, I have been concentrating on figurative and non-objective oil and cold wax paintings.

Any big plans?
I spent a good deal of time traveling this year, to South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, New Zealand, Tasmania, and Australia. I have been inspired by these travels and hope to produce more work based on those inspirations. I can’t stop painting, so there will be many more works coming!
