Inspiring Conversations with Mandana Zarghami of mSOCIAL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mandana Zarghami.

Hi Mandana, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Mandana, and this is how I started my Social Media Management business!

My passion for social media didn’t come to light until after I graduated college. I graduated with a science degree and realized that I no longer wanted to pursue a career in the medical field and found myself at a dead end. While my other friends were all getting jobs and going to grad school, I found myself lost and confused about what I wanted to do. Applying to hundreds of jobs after college and constantly being rejected from them was truly difficult and took a huge toll on my mental health. But the one thing I never did was stop searching for my passion and trying to find what my true purpose in life. Unlike others, I didn’t know I had a huge passion for social media until much later in life. I realized it was something I truly enjoyed doing and decided to take a leap of faith and dive into something new.

I worked in event marketing full-time until I came across a great opportunity to work for a corporate company. Fast forward 1.5 years later, I took one of the biggest risks of my life and quit my corporate job to build my business.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
“Success is not final; failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts.”- Winston Churchill

Starting a new business when you know nothing about it is very challenging and risky. It requires you to develop mental toughness and strength. You are the only person that is responsible for the uprise or downhill of your business. It’s important to remember that you don’t need to know everything when trying or starting something new. You learn to make changes along the way and figure it out as you go.

Finding clients, in the beginning, was the hardest. I went from sending out roughly 50-100 emails every week to brands and businesses that required social media help to building myself a large clientelle of those in the beauty, health + wellness, and e-commerce industry.

We’ve been impressed with mSOCIAL, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
mSOCIAL Creative is a Social Media Management business that offers a variety of services from content creation, brand, and marketing strategy building and influencer marketing.

We specialize in content creation, graphic design, TikTok content creation, copywriting, and celebrity and influencer outreach. We are passionate about bringing other people’s brands and visions to life in a creative way!

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
The ability to adapt and have mental toughness are two characteristics in which are important in succeeding in a new business. You have to be willing to make changes. You have to be willing to put in the extra hours to see results. You have to be willing to adapt to client feedback and not take anything personally, even if you think what you’re doing is better than what the client is suggesting. It’s also important to have mental toughness because there are days when you’re spending countless hours building a strategy for a client, only for it to not be approved by them. Your ability to adapt to change, client feedback and just remaining composed and patient throughout building your business up, is so important.

Remember, success isn’t the first step in reaching your wildest dreams. It’s the last step. Failure is the first step.

When you fail, it’s not easy to put yourself out there again. But you have to remind yourself, you’re not really starting from scratch. Your failure was a learning experience. It gave you tools you’ll need moving forward. You’re better off now than you were then. You know more. You’ve grown more.

If you want to make it to your intended destination, you need to stop taking your failures so personally.
