Meet Catalina Meyer of Catalina’s Artistry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Catalina Meyer.

Hi Catalina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up I always had an interest in the arts. I was always a very indecisive and doubtful person.

I knew that I didn’t want to be working a 9-5 straight out of college so my plan was to graduate and once I had my degree that I could finally become the entrepreneur I always wanted to become and start my own business.

My sophomore year, I became deeply depressed and immediately realized that I was unhappy in what I thought was right for me. I started to question who and what I wanted to become.

The first thing that I thought was “I want to make people feel beautiful, and confident about themselves.” If I could impact just a small portion of their life or even that day, it would make my career that much more worth it.

Shortly after finishing my sophomore year, I knew I wanted to become a cosmetologist. I talked to my family about it. Everyone thought I was crazy. It would be delusional of me to lose all of my scholarships and the hard work that I had put forth into my education! Eventually, I made a thorough business plan, talked to my family about it, and joined Paul Mitchell the school a few months later.

As an aspiring entrepreneur, I went through beauty school at the top of my class, taking every opportunity and making the most out of it. Due to my hard work ethic and determination to succeed, I started to get busy! After school each day I would practice hair and makeup for hours on my friends and family. I eventually made business cards and started to hand them out to everyone I met!

During beauty school, I was blessed to attend events such asNaples fashion week, art walks the runway in Fort Myers and the John Maxwell event in Orlando with 3 other girls Who were selected from the whole school. Later on, I also got recognized by a model who was a contestant for Miss Florida Teen USA which was televised! I was so blessed to do her hair and makeup for all 3 days including the final competition night.

Eventually, I got noticed by an agency called JLC modeling agency while working hard backstage at a runway show. I joined them as their designated makeup artist and started to travel on weekends out of town to do runways and various photoshoots.

While I was in cosmetology school, I met an incredible designer named Shawna Brioux who owns Smokkeshow. She is one of the most hungry entrepreneurs I have ever met! What I thought would be a one-time appointment turned into an incredible friendship and now we are very close and both pursuing our dreams every day to the fullest extent. Luckily, I got to attend Miami swim week and the Confidential fashion show with her as her private makeup artist.

Cosmetology school was very challenging and had to make many sacrifices but eventually, I graduated, got licensed, and started working!

Although I am still working to be a successful and impactful young woman, I am blessed to say that God has given me many opportunities to grow and meet some incredible people along the way!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
During beauty school, in my personal life, and in the professional world it can be challenging to fit in! As an entrepreneur, a lot of people don’t realize how isolating it can be. You are your own marketer, advertiser, social media influencer, model, representative, photographer, professional artist, and personal motivator.

When you don’t have any time to think, find good friends, and peace in life, it can be very hard to develop a genuine relationship between yourself and others. Entrepreneurship is a very lonely road, but only if you allow it to consume you entirely. Make time for God, self-care, and things that you truly love.

Although this is still a challenge for me, it is not as difficult as it was when I was first starting up. I think it’s all about experimenting, moderation, and knowing what brings you peace amidst the chaos.

We’ve been impressed with Catalina’s Artistry, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Catalina’s Artistry is a professional hair and makeup business. I travel across Southwest Florida servicing brides, modeling agencies, quinceañeras, and other special events.

My brand represents pure and genuine beauty. Not only do I help women look beautiful on the outside, but I also help them feel beautiful on the inside by paying attention to the unique needs throughout the service. Catalina’s Artistry is truly a luxurious beauty experience.

I think I bring a different perspective and refreshing wave to the industry of beauty. For my business, making it easy and accessible for my for clients to view my portfolio, see real reviews, and book an appointment is crucial. Using social media and technology as my key tools, it has led me to meet my goals in business and develop incredible connections. I do a great job with staying on trend in the makeup world, knowing what’s suitable for my clients, and always willing to push creative boundaries if my client requests something more our of the box!

You will find that my attention to detail, perfectionism and your preferences really matter a lot to me! My goal is to service you with an incredible experience that makes you feel confident and empowered.
