Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Lichter. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Back in 2016, you’d find Erik and Stephanie baking cookies late at night in Erik’s parents’ kitchen. Stephanie would decorate cookie cakes and arrange the packaging. Erik was in law school and Stephanie was completing her master’s online and teaching violin during the after-school hours. Fast forward to 2020 when covid hit Erik had a successful law firm of his own and we just had our first child in 2019. We wanted something bigger for our family. We finally went for it and opened Sweet Lich’s to the public via delivery platforms. We share a commercial kitchen with Coconut Grove Catering and offer pick-up and delivery through all the major delivery platforms such as uber eats, doordash, grub hub, as well as our own app and website sweetlichs.com.
Erik still goes in weekly to mix up some secret ingredients and Stephanie does all of the managing; from scheduling to arranging events whether public or private.
We recently a VW bus made into a food truck so we could make our presence more known in Miami in 2021 and we do pop-ups in Coral Gables a few times every week as well as Tropical Park food truck nights. Our menu has now expanded to more than cookies – we make our own ice cream from scratch as well as pies. Every item on our menu has a bit of cookie in it!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There were lots of challenges in the beginning because neither of us had worked in the restaurant field before. With the help of great chefs and managers, we were able to make our product even more consistent and tastier than ever. Going from our home kitchen and scaling to much larger was the biggest challenge. Now the challenges are more like needing more employees to be able to do more events. Erik and Stephanie always make it a point to be there for events and represent Sweet Lichs. We are truly a family-run business!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We specialize in freshly baked cookies. Every cookie we sell is baked fresh to order. We strive to have the homemade taste ooey gooey inside and crunchy on the outside.
We make everything we sell from scratch. Our ice cream, our cookie dough, our key lime custard, our dulce de leche. All of it.
We are most proud of our branding honestly. In 2021 we really changed the look thanks to Stephanie and her great eye for things. We have the “Tiffany blue” box of cookies, and it really does make an impression. Our VW bus makes an even bigger one when our roof goes up and we open our windows to serve.
We want anyone reading this to know that this truly is a small family business, and we are so grateful to our customers!
Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I know we’d both say The Secret.
We have put this book into practice for so much of Sweet Lich’s and we know it’s really happening when we have our yearly goals meeting.
We write all of them out and it never ceases to amaze me how we always meet every one of them. We speak everything into existence and truly believe we will make it happen!
