Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Pruitt.
Hi Dominique, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
BlowSumMo Lip Care began after college and motherhood when I found myself scrambling to find work as a single mom. The idea had always been around from college life when I initially became a “stoner” I would find myself making different concoctions of scrubs or bases to brighten my lips. I didn’t take it as serious then but once I was in position to thoroughly organize and fund the idea in 2017 it was an amazing shift from always having worked 9-5 jobs to no income at all to being the CEO of my own company of 4.5 years to say the least! Almost 5 years later I now offer over 40 different innovations any stoner could benefit from and I plan to continue expanding and creating!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all I can admit. Personally, I still struggle as a single mom & one-woman band business. Sometimes life is more demanding than orders but they’re still orders that need to be taken care of. Wanting to take a break, realizing your main income is the business and you’re the only employee. Lol
You’re excited and motivated in the beginning not realizing the tolls it could take on you in the long run. With discipline and dedication and of course faith and the love for what you do it won’t be all bad. I have had times where I wanted to shut down thinking I wasn’t doing enough or performing well enough and as a one-woman band, I realized I cannot put out Amazon numbers with me as every employee. Lol so it eventually humbles you and my customers motivate me even more! I always advise anyone running a small business alone to make a purpose statement or a “why I started” letter to always reflect on when they’re feeling like giving up. It’s very possible to consider once packages may get lost, materials can’t be restocked timely, or manufacture issues but always know there’s a fix for it all and a reason you made it that far!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As a creative, I craft and concoct products to cater to everyone or exclusively to their liking. My products specialize in the smoke-friendly world. I have expanded on to make rolling trays, glow-in-the-dark items, innovative items like keychains for lighters and balms with storages, ashtrays, clips for everyone like gamers or long nail divas. I am most proud of my consistency and creativity. I feel like I am set apart from others because I focus on the stoner’s lips. Granted the ingredients are natural and made for all I just ensure the smokers of the world that they are just as important in skincare aisles as any other lip issue!
What sets me apart from others is I am someone who once suffered from the issue that my products fix, so I can easily focus on the right ingredients or needs for stoners who lips may have discoloration, chapped or dry lips! 😀
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is being able to help others with their potential insecurities as a stoner. Not everyone suffers from the effects and not everyone wishes to just stop as cannabis has been medically legalized to treat and help everyone.
What matters is getting BlowSumMo lip care on skincare aisles and smoke shops all around the world in a now medical marijuana world.
Lastly, showing my daughter that her mom’s small business is going to be a BIG business is what matters to me.
