Check Out Stephan M’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephan M.

Hi Stephan, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
It was a natural progression. I have been into music since a young age, I was producing my own radio shows and mixtapes in my bedroom and collecting all the music records I could until I had the opportunity to DJ for the first of many teenage parties. Eventually, a Local radio station signed me for a weekly radio show soon becoming a daily radio show, few years after I ended up on a big national Fm Station named NRJ. National Radio exposure led me to DJ at some of France’s and International most elite venues and events until it was the time to move to USA in the peruse of my “American dream” where soon enough I’ve been ask to become the new resident DJ at the legendary South Beach Club BASH (co-owned by actor Sean Penn and Lead singer of the band Simply Red’s Mick Hucknall) alongside Robbie Rivera, George Acosta and other well acclaimed Local DJs.

The next “logical” step for me was music production, having my tracks released by the biggest dance record labels and included in the top-selling Dance compilations all around the world.

Over the years, I’ve been releasing music on some of the House music’s biggest labels such as infamous Swedish label Joia/Nero/Universal, Ministry of Sound, Erick Morillo’s Subliminal, EDX’s PinkStar, Cedric Gervais’s “Sleaze”, Bob Sinclar’s Yellow Productions, Crazibiza’s Pornosrtar Records, Hit Music (a division of Sony Corp.) just to name some.

I have had many releases in the Top 10 charts through the years, the most recent ones were in 2020, when my tracks hit the top charts on BEATPORT with “Power of Love,” Easy Lover” and “What a feeling “, collaboration with my longtime friend and studio partner Laurent Simeca, remaining in the Top 10 charts for many weeks.

A new chapter beside my Dj residencies has been starting my own Digital Record label named Sunbeats Digital last year with Laurent Simeca. Our releases been supported by some of the biggest names in the EDM world as well of streaming platforms.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As any other artist, It takes years to go through every step, from local spots to the international ones, from producing music for your own sets to have other DJs from all over playing them as well, therefore, establishing your name internationally in the music industry. Is not easy and there will always be challenges in the process but while there’s passion, discipline and dedication there will be success at the end.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My art is producing and playing music for a crowd like no other DJ/Producer does, been original and surprise the people is a signature of my DJ sets and productions, I don’t like to play original versions, but mostly remixes of popular songs made by me or other music producers, songs that people know, love but most importantly people will dance to. The goal is to build an entire music experience around popular songs old or new by playing or producing remakes to give them a fresh, modern, and surprising sound to allow the crowd to rediscover classics they know and love. I love Happy, Funky, groovy, and sexy music That makes you feel good and put a smile on your face, nothing too serious.

Right now, I’m focusing on developing my record Label ” Sunbeats Digital ” with Laurent Simeca, we have tons of new releases coming out, keep your ears open. 🙂

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe luck have anything to do in order to become successful in what you do. Consistency, hard work, and also try to get your sound evolve as music trend change from time to time.
