Hidden Gems: Meet Adam Meshberg of Meshberg Group Architects

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Meshberg.

Hi Adam, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
After graduating from architecture school at Rhode Island School of Design, I moved to NYC. I started my career off working for a few different architectural firms on a variety of projects. I was focused on residential, commercial, and mix-use design, specializing in historic preservation, adaptive reuse, and new construction, all under the ethos of innovative, yet responsible, long-term community impact.

Prior to founding Meshberg Group, I worked for J.P. Franzen Associates, one of Connecticut’s top architectural firms, specializing in historical preservation, and the prestigious yacht design firm of Sparkman & Stephens. While designing yachts, I was able to foster my love for boats and merge my architectural background with naval architecture, which has strongly influenced my designs.

After working in the industry for 6 years I decided I wanted to make my own mark on the city. I started Meshberg Group out of my carriage house apt in Brooklyn 16 years ago. Starting out with small residential projects and a few interns, over time I grew our project sizes and watched the brand begin to take off.

From there I slowly and strategically grew the firm to what it is today. We are a national architecture and interior design firm with offices in Brooklyn and Miami. We have 15 designers and architects across both offices. Our projects now range from large-scale high-rise residential towers in Downtown Miami to garden-style townhouse complexes in Dallas. Our clients are now some of the largest developers in the nation.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Running an architecture and interior design firm is a difficult job. Many things try to keep you from succeeding, from finances, and the real estate market, to job pipeline flow. I have been lucky to come out of the biggest hurdles along the way, stronger and smarter. What I have learned is there will always be challenges and fires to put out but it’s how you learn from them and implement that knowledge moving forward that is most important. I try not to dwell on the issues instead learn from my mistakes and fine-tune the machine so it runs better and better over time.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Meshberg Group is one of the leading national interior design firms that focus on large-scale, amenity-driven multifamily projects. We design and build one-of-a-kind residential communities and experiences and are known for anchoring neighborhoods through thoughtful and well-crafted interiors and architectural spaces to achieve the highest quality of life.

The way we approach all our projects whether they are large or small is by understanding growth and trends, and taking action ahead of them, we visualize the future of living communities. This takes certain qualities that allow for leadership in the space: creativity, foresight, planning, craft, user empathy, experience design, cultural knowledge, social archeology, and innovation.

We offer our clients not just interior design services but a holistic and cohesive experience. We create the vision and the narrative for the project starting with the interiors and then tieing in all aspects of the project from the architecture to the branding to the furniture procurement.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is that the spaces we create are used the way they are intended and that experiences within our projects are unique and enhance people’s lives and the way we live today. I want our clients to be proud of the projects and their tenants to love where they live.
