Meet Anava Kalstone of Chillax Massage Shop in Downtown Miami

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anava Kalstone.

Anava, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I became inspired to create Chillax years ago, when chair massage helped me manage stress during work breaks and increased my productivity as a sales representative in London. I wanted to make massage and its benefits accessible for others as it was for me. When I moved to Miami I went to Educating Hands massage school and then worked as a massage therapist in various settings. Chillax opened in August 2017 and Downtown embraced the concept from day one.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Fortunately, it has been a pretty smooth road since we opened. The struggle along the way was the important detail of where in Miami were we going to open Chillax? We looked for an area with a large daytime population and the Downtown/Brickell area has the largest daytime population in Miami. Downtown also has a growing residential population and hip cool businesses opening up, we wanted to be a part of it and help raise the vibe.

Chillax Massage Shop – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are most proud that Chillax is an independent local massage shop. Our mission is to make massage accessible. We have a walk-in chair massage service in a modern retail shop space enhanced with aromatherapy and relaxing but upbeat music. Even on a busy day, you can take 10 minutes and make your day better. Our team of therapists are professionals who love what they do and believe in this concept. Chillax is an authentic urban oasis where your body gets uplifted while your mind also gets to relax. We also just added body massage services due to customer demand. We also feature a unique shop carrying amazing candles, aromatherapy, Ipanema flip flops and cool earth conscious gifts to yourself and others.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite childhood memory is spending long days on the beach. That is one of the great things about living in Miami, we have beach days all year long. We are so lucky.
