Hidden Gems: Meet Sharon Ng of PineappleYogi Retreats

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sharon Ng.

Hi Sharon, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
PineappleYogi Retreats began 7+ years ago when I (Sharon, the founder) over to NYC and started working in health and wellness only to find out that the stress and busyness of life was drowning me. I thought “if I feel this way and I’m IN this industry of health and wellness and I have all the tools and put into practice the modalities that help me… yet I’m feeling run down and burnt out… I can only imagine what others who live here are feeling.”

This thought process led me to a dream that I had planted the seed on but never really imagined it becoming my reality which was leading Yoga / Wellness Retreats to help others Reset. From this, the Reset Retreats were born! From research and years of fine-tuning, it’s been proven that taking designated time away from your day-to-day hustle of life is hugely important to you physical, mental, and spiritual health. We need to Reset and take out time more often than we ever do. That’s where I come in to help educate and hold space for people to come back to themselves.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
To reflect on this question, I’d have to say all in all- it has been fairly smooth. There were very definite moments in time where things were rough…however, as I reflect, I know very well now that the hard times are inevitable and a natural part of being a soloprenuer and small business owner. It’s all a part of your mindset and just knowing that things will always ebb and flow and nothing is permanent has been really helpful. I’ve learned over time that the biggest obstacle for myself and I might assume some others as well, is me getting in my own way. Self-doubt, not trusting my intuition and heart, etc. That’s a continual practice! But overall, I am so blessed and grateful as with the change of life through COVID- PineappleYogi Retreats thrived and grew as many really turned towards their health and wellness and saw the importance, vitality, and value in doing things like yoga, retreats, mindfulness, and more to take care of themselves.

We’ve been impressed with PineappleYogi Retreats, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
PineappleYogi Retreats are yoga and wellness Retreats that focus on a mind, body, and spiritual Reset. These Retreats are meant for ALL women, of all ages, backgrounds, and levels to come and reset. This means unpacking, checking in, communing with like-minded folks, nourishing and nurturing oneself, and celebrating themselves. It’s hugely empowering but it is also comes with some depth. At Retreats we do unpack things that perhaps we haven’t ever confronted before. One of PineappleYogi’s superpowers is the ability to hold space for others. It sets the tone and allows guests to be seen, heard, and listened to. One thing we offer that feels unique from what seems to be the stereotype around Retreats, is inclusivity. We are really working on breaking that barrier that Yoga and Retreats is this one size, shape, color offering. Expect to see big changes starting here! PineappleYogi Retreats intention and focus is on seasonal Reset Retreats. We work closely with TCM (traditions cheese medicine) and with the seasons. This means that we hold Retreats seasonally and each season has a very specific, yet different theme a focus. You can expect to move in specific ways through the physical practice based on the given season, eat specific foods, have specific conversations, etc. The goal is to bring our body, mind, and heart Ito harmony, equilibrium.

Let’s grow together and step into more of who we want to, and deserve to be.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I love this question! So many…

Let’s see, if I had to choice one thing I think it would be- learning (and I’m still learning) to FULLY trust and believe in myself. Rid of self-doubt. And ALWAYS follow my heart. When I follow my heart I’m aligned, every single time. It has never ever led me wrong, even in hard times. And when I veer away from my heart, that’s when things start to become unaligned!
