Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Lazarus.
Hi Taylor, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started working at my friend’s print shop; OTM Printing in 2020. There we do embroidery, screen printing, Direct-to-Garment printing, and custom designing. Working at OTM Printing, I learned a lot about the process of creating merch and the streetwear industry itself and as the year went by I fell in love with it.
Creating my brand became a dream for me and with the opportunities and tools that were placed in front of me I felt now was the best time. I wanted my brand to tell a story through the clothes that I was going to create, so eventually, I came up with the name Trendless. Trendless stands for never being afraid to be yourself, not conforming to trends, and having the confidence to look in the mirror and realize that you are one of one.
Having a brand and business comes with a lot of hard work and perseverance, so I constantly remind myself of this Trendless philosophy to keep me going. I am extremely grateful for the support from my friends and family since I started Trendless.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Running a clothing brand comes with many challenges, but I try to stay focused on staying positive and always being open to learning new ways to be better. The main challenge that I had to overcome was learning the business side of running a brand. Learning to stay on top of the finances as a business owner has taken time to get used to and I’m still learning a lot.
The creative side of running the brand is exciting because there are always new ideas that I want to try, but I’ve learned to appreciate the numbers side of running a brand. Miami has become a place everyone wants to come to for a vacation or to live.
Celebrities and influencers have homes here, artists include Miami in their songs, Miami is a mecca for pop culture and fashion but I feel like Miami does not get the recognition it should receive that cities like Los Angeles and New York get. My goal is for Trendless to become a brand that gets Miami more respect than it deserves in the streetwear/fashion world.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Creating designs, or coming up with concepts and seeing the final product is one of the most exciting moments for me. Seeing the reactions from my family and friends also reassures me that what I’m creating means something. Having this brand has allowed me to express myself to the world, and it’s an amazing feeling to know the rest of the world enjoys what I’m creating.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I want my goals for Trendless to become a reality so quickly, I forget that greatness comes with patience. Rome was not built in one day. I know patience is key when working towards any goal. Small consistent steps over time, build on to each other, and eventually, I know I’ll be where I need to be.
