Hi Sydnee, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve had a passion for movement for as long as I can remember. From dance to gymnastics to hiking and riding my bike, I have taken almost any chance to move I could get since I was a kid. It wasn’t until my junior year of college nearly four years ago that I realized I could turn my love for being active (and more specifically, active fashion) into a small business that would bring affordably, yet on-trend activewear to other girls out there who were just like me.
Over a few months, that epiphany evolved into Elle & Anther, an online athleisure boutique featuring all the latest styles in active fashion in one convenient place.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road since the creation of Elle & Anther has been anything but easy, filled with lots of highs and countless lows, but I wouldn’t trade the journey for anything. Owning a small business online nowadays comes with almost every challenge you can imagine, from the drama with shipping to being burned by influencers, and I’ve dealt with it all.
Early on, when things weren’t selling the way I wanted them to, I would doubt if my business was good enough to make it, if I had what it took to be an entrepreneur, or if I was wasting my time and money trying to start up an activewear boutique in the first place. Those doubts were incredibly difficult to shake off and nearly inspired me to quit several times.
But if entrepreneurship has taught me anything, it’s the value of resilience, discipline, and unwavering belief in what you do. Through all the challenges, I have had to constantly remind myself of the value in what I offer and remain committed to bringing that to my customers no matter what.
Elle & Anther is now at the strongest point it’s ever been, and I am endlessly grateful for all the connections I’ve made and the confidence I’ve built through running this business.

Elle & Anther specializes in stylish, wallet-friendly athleisure styles perfect for wearing at the gym or on the go. Some of the most popular items are matching sets, denim jackets, and active tanks.
One of the main things that set Elle & Anther apart is the personal touch that comes with shopping from a small business vs. a larger company. I love chatting with and getting to know my customers, so they know they’re always welcome to DM or send me an email if they have any questions about how something fits, what the colors look like, or what they should pair it with.
I’ve even had lots of conversations with people that aren’t even related to business or clothing at all! The personal connection I’ve been able to build with many of my customers is one of my favorite things about being a small business owner and something I’m super proud to have developed over the years.
