Today we’d like to introduce you to Katherine Coromoto.
Hi Katherine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am a model, journalist and T.V presenter. I have been working in the television industry since I was a little girl. When I was four years old, I was part of the Mini Venezuela, a beauty pageant created for little girls not just to show their beauty but also their talent. I was picked from a group of 300 girls to be part of the 23 contestants. That was my first achievement. I realized that all the lights and cameras was part of my world so I wanted to still working in this wonderful industry. So an agency hired me as a model where I participate in different commercials, fashion shows, clothing catalogues and also very popular t.v shows in my home country. At the age of 19, when I was studying journalism, I decided to move to Spain. I finish my career in The European University of Madrid where I got my degree as a journalist. I continued modeling in the Mediterranean until 2018, that year I moved to Miami. I got my papers to be able to work and continue my career here, so when I finally got them, I started to be part of big projects, like music videos, commercials with big stars like Anitta and Karol G, as well as in different movies and telenovelas. I also had the opportunity to work as a reporter, covering different events such as Miss Universe 2020, New York Fashion Week 2021 and most important of all, the Met Gala 2021. Interviewing beauty queens, singers and great television stars such as Timothee Chalamet, Jowell and Randy, Andrea Meza, Osmel Sousa, Lupita Jones, Zuleyka Rivera, Lucho Borrego, etc. Until now, I can say that working on what I like and is passionate about has been a dream for me, for which I thank God every day. The road has not been easy but it has been worth it. Life is full of ups and downs, but each of them has definitely brought me to where I am today. So I will continue fighting so that the rest of my checklist is fulfilled.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been easy at all. There have been many obstacles, especially because of the situation in my country Venezuela, which made me emigrate in a forced way. One of the most difficult things at the beginning was having to live alone but is true that this situation helped me to mature more quickly. Since I had to leave the country when I was only 19 years. Living away from my family was another hard thing because when you arrive home, you don’t have someone to talk to about your day or if you feel sick or in a bad mood is way harder to recover.
Also, having the legality to be able to study and work in both countries, Spain and the United States was not easy either. Because is not just something about money and time is that you depend on other’s decisions so you can achieve your goals, so that part can be very scary.
However, if there’s one thing I’m sure of, it’s that nothing that’s really worth it comes easy. So all that sweat, sleepless nights and tears have had good results.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am model, journalist and T.V presenter. As I said I have participated in commercials, television programs and I have had the opportunity interviewing great stars of the world of television. I also worked as a content creator on my social media. Where I share posts, reports and news about the fashion industry. I think that one thing that sets me apart from others is my passion, effort, hard work and that I never give up.
And what thing that I’m very proud of. Is that every time that someone has tell me that I can’t do it or that I do not have the necessary characteristics to achieve it. I have shown him the opposite by reaching greater goals such as covering the 2021 met gala where a lot of people told me that it was impossible.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I think that the best mentor sometimes can be your inner voice. When that little voice talks to you and tells you ¨DO IT AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS¨. Don’t ignore her, pay attention and follow her. Because it can change your life forever. That’s a thing that have worked a lot for me, to follow my instinct. And another thing is to pray, be grateful to God and believe that he have great things for you.
