Community Highlights: Meet EBi iMagine of Santissimx

Today we’d like to introduce you to EBi iMagine.

Hi EBi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I always loved fashion, I started downloading images from internet and transforming them closer to what I imagined and stamped them on white T-shirts, but my knowledge about Photoshop wasn’t so big as my imagination was 🙂

Definitely, I acquired more knowledge and tools, and I started designing merchandise for the artists under my record label, and other record labels.

After some years combining music festivals and fashion, I was approached by the owner of a swimwear brand that was about to close up. The target of the brand wasn’t a target on my radar, but there was this amazing picture at that fabulous house that convinced me of the potential of the trademark.

We went in as co-owners, created a website, a concept, branding guide, social media. After three years of daily and constant effort, the trademark went from wholesaling almost not gaining, to a household name selling up to 10.000 bikinis a year.

As a not so big company, at the beginning, I had to handle different roles, from Director, Creative Director, Designer, production, photographer, graphic designer, web maintenance….etc, while recovering the company’s financial status.

On the way, I had a more comercial vision for the trademark, but my business partner had another plan, so I decided to create my own trademark, and now we have five stores and we are present in more than 15 countries through wholesalers.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the most notorious obstacle is having to play some many roles, with each role containing a lot of little but very important details.

Now with a larger team, it’s somehow more easy.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are an Eco-Friendly Beachwear, Yoga, Active and “Native” brand.

Our lining, the part in contact directly with our customer’s skin is 92% Eco-certified by Control Union / Global Recycled Standard.

We do care for every little detail, using the best, most comfortable and technical material through the designing and production process, offering different models for all type of female body that contains a free soul.

As a creative, I am fully active on interior design, specifically clothing stores, branding, creative direction, designer and photographer.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
There is always risks to be taken daily in the fashion business, and a decision affects thousands of clothes, and that makes a good sell or not.

From the color of the thread to the timing of when to pay each supplier can be a major risk depending on the stage you at.

Fashion is for the brave at heart.

I have definitely took and still taking “risk” daily.

I once found myself two weeks from my monthly house rent then, and I had to decide if to pay my rent and to buy this new fabrics I was offered which I fell in love with and I trusted it would work on my pattern few weeks from opening my first store 🙂
