Community Highlights: Meet Giovanna Jaspid of Jaspid Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giovanna Jaspid.

Hi Giovanna, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Jaspid Studio “Pillow Shop” started as a side hustle for my interior renovation projects. Clients will ask to give the finishing touch to their space by adding decorative pillows. I would select the fabrics and have my seamstress Mom do her magic to make the pillows. After every project, we had leftover fabric that was made into new pillows and these will sell quickly. That’s when I noticed there was an opportunity for growth and decided to open up an online store to reach more customers and sell worldwide.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Being a Small business owner has a Big learning curve. You will wear many hats and will have to learn to deal with many situations with customers, vendors, workers, managing the money part, marketing, branding and create an awesome product. These can be stressful at times but you just have to make sure to do a little bit each day because you will be learning something new and will get better at it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I graduated in Architecture and worked in the field for some years before starting Jaspid Studio. I love designing and putting my creative brain into everything I do.

We are a women’s team that makes Designer Decorative Pillows with the upmost quality. I personally select every fabric and answer every message from my customers. My team of seamstresses takes care of all the sewing part and everything is made in Miami, FL. We are proud of the final products we create and continue to work hard to reach more Interior Designers, Decorators, Architects and home design enthusiasts to make their custom decorative pillows.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Covid-19 gave me an insight of the importance that was to have an online store presence. Since everybody was at home and not out physically in the stores, it gave my work an advantage over others.
