Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am Liz (pinksakura), a 23 year old Streamer and Youtuber. My entire life I always loved and played video games. My friends told me about playing them “for money” and trying to make something out of my passion. I didn’t think I was good enough, but they told me about Twitch — a place where anyone can live stream anything. My very first stream was on July 1st, 2018. I started off playing Fortnite, Overwatch, and Call of Duty. When Warzone came out, I fell in love and became a competitive female player and earned money in tournaments and competitions, In October of last year, when Verdansk left (the warzone map), so did I. I explored my interest in creating content around my humor and having fun, and this is where I am today. Every single stream of mine is different. My chat doesn’t know what game I’m going to play, or what activity I’m going to do. I like to keep them guessing because it keeps interest high, and I’m not repeating the same thing every stream.
Within the past year I also fell in love with making Youtube videos and expressing my personality through vlogs and pranks and challenges. I have a lot of fun making them, and people have a lot of fun watching them. Some of my favorite music videos are when I went to Times Square to ask New Yorkers to teach me how to get “sturdy”, or the video where I handcuffed myself to one of my friends for 24 hours, or even the video where I recreated the famous cooking show Hell’s Kitchen.
I also get to create content through interests of mine that I can’t do in my bedroom on Twitch. An example would be cars. I am a huge car enthusiast and build my own 10r80 GT and take her to car meets. My community loves when I show that ladies like to work on cars and race them too.
In May of this year, I was chosen to be the Top 20 of the Faze1 competition with Faze clan and be on a reality show for a month. I ended up being a finalist in the whole competition! While I didn’t win, the experience taught me a lot about myself, what I need to work on, and gave me a greater motivation to keep building myself and my community. I was really proud of myself in the end.
Because of the FaZe competition, I had to drop out of my Senior college semester (as final exams were the same time as the show was running). It was an easy decision to make, because this was a huge chance for me to join FaZe clan, win my dream car (Nissan GTR), and win a TON of money. I am officially a full-time content creator, but I do plan on returning to school very soon to finish. I am a biomedical health science major at USF in Tampa. My goal was to become a surgeon if content creation didn’t work out. I want to help people with my life somehow or another.
I think my absolute life dream would be to just leave a mark on the world by making people happy. If that’s with laughs, with advice, with finances, etc. I just want to give to others a boost that I didn’t have in the beginning.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
My growth journey has been anything but smooth and easy, but I prefer it that way. Iron sharpens iron right? It takes the friction to sharpen and shape. All of the adversity in my life has sharpened me. I may not have liked it, but everything happens for a reason and I like to turn situations in life into lessons.
One of the biggest struggles I’ve had to overcome recently, especially during the FaZe1 competition, is a lot of hate for absolutely no reason. I always thought of myself as a really strong woman — stronger than most if I’m being honest. But hearing racial slurs, downplaying me because I am a woman, comments about my body of my looks — just seeing constant negativity everywhere online sucks. It was really hard to ignore at first, but I can say most of the times I can laugh or just ignore hate with ease now.
I always say that people who have negative things to say without reasoning are just intimidated and scared of how strong and powerful a person is.
My support system helps a lot with my journey and overcoming obstacles. I have an amazing family that supports my choices, I have amazing friends that get in trouble along the way with me, and I have an amazing community that loves me no matter what.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a full-time content creator at the moment and student. Sometimes I think about trying new things and getting part time side hustles, but my focus is solely on the growth of my platform currently.
I specialize in making people LAUGH. I host a lot of “edates” and “podcasts” on my channel, where we use Discord to host online dating and comedy shows for the community.
I think I am most proud of my ability to remain consistent and driven. No matter how hard life has hit me, I keep coming back up. I am the type of person who wants to constantly work or do something productive every minute I am awake. I want to succeed but not only for myself, but for my family, friends, and community, I feel like I have a lot on my shoulders and I don’t want to let the people who love and support me down.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something surprising about me is that I have a singing talent and am working behind the scenes to create original songs to share with my community. How cool would it be to add “music artist” to the list of things that come with pinksakura? This isn’t a secret to my community, because I’ve told my stream about it before, but they haven’t heard what I’ve got cooking up yet.
Something that’s not surprising, but that people don’t know is that later in life I want to travel the entire world and hit every continent at least once or twice. I REALLY love to travel. In the past few months alone I’ve been to NYC, Hawaii, California, different parts of FL, and Texas.
Another something surprising is that recently I’ve been really in love with cooking and learning new things to cook. I am definitely a foodie.
