Today we’d like to introduce you to Kara Seide.
Hi Kara, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My brand “SEIDESTYLES” originally began with my thrifting projects back in 2018.
My dear friends saw the potential in me to the point they got me a sewing machine during quarantine and encouraged me to start making my own clothing. I didn’t know how to use a sewing machine at first. However, my determination motivated me to go on YouTube and teach myself.
What started as just upcycling old clothes and just thrifting as a hobby at the age of 15, has molded into me ordering fabrics from scratch and creating my own designs.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We all face the challenges and obstacles that life brings. However, for myself, I was in my own way.
Having a vision and passion to bring forth a business and share it with the world; including something that was exclusively constructed by my own mind was nerve-racking, to say the least.
My support system gave me the confidence to break out of my shell.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work is fashion—self-expression. My designs are set to fit all sizes—inclusivity.
I want everyone to be confident and feel beautiful when they wear my designs. SEIDESTYLES will only be providing limited styles that will vary with different themes, prints, and designs.
I’m known for my abstract designs. Full of color and vibration. What makes me proud is knowing that each of my designs is eccentric which ultimately sets me apart from others.
What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
I’ve learned that my art is my self-identity. Fashion is unapologetically being yourself. I’ve acquired the knowledge in this craft that I once before was too afraid to do. I now embrace this journey with all of its coils.
