Meet Camilo A. Segura

Today we’d like to introduce you to Camilo A. Segura.

Hi Camilo, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My name is Camilo Segura, I am from Cucuta, Colombia. I received my architectural degree in 2017.

I left Colombia in 2018 and traveled to the US, seeking a better life for myself and my family residing in Colombia. From selling pots in New York to working as a cook in a Colombian restaurant, I have never ceased to believe in my potential; and continue to pursue my ambitions to build my business and become a successful entrepreneur.

At times, I fell short and wanted to quit; but on the day I was traveling from Colombia to New York, I met a woman on my flight. We sat next to each other and I had the opportunity to share snapshots of my life story.

She was impressed with my life’s journey. I gave her my resume, and we parted but remained in touch. A few months thereafter, I had the opportunity to relocate to South Florida and met her husband, a structural engineer.

She and her husband believed in me and provided me with the opportunity to work in their company. This opportunity provided me with great knowledge regarding building construction, design, and the construction market here in the US.

Many challenges followed, but today, I’ve created my own 3D visualization company for architects, designers, and builders. I continue to promote my own brand and continue to develop innovative ideas in the field of technology and architecture.

Also, I keep educating myself in areas of study in my career, as a BIM technology master and tutoring architecture/interior design students about my knowledge as well. With great support from those who believe in me, my family, and my friends, I continue to persevere and grow.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I have encountered many roadblocks/obstacles during my journey, however, this has made me stronger/more determined, to accomplish my dreams. I believe this journey describes a feeling of “Going to War,” where every step is like pushing against the impossible; but each step forward brings you closer to your dream.

I refused defeat. It was difficult leaving family and culture behind, to travel to a strange land, where English was the main language, but not my native tongue. The barrier to my professional and financial status became obvious since the workplace here in the US requires English-speaking professionals.

I knew just a little English and decided to learn quickly and immerse myself into the American culture, as my survival tactic. I’m here today as a testament, I survived. I realized all barriers had to be broken, to ensure they wouldn’t become a deterrent to my dreams. I had to remain focused.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Currently, I am working with an architectural woodwork firm that specializes in cabinetry, including but not limited to wood paneling, ceilings, structures, and artistic objects for decor purposes.

Concurrently, I am president of the company I developed, 3D Arch Creations LLC, which provides visualization/rendering for architects, interior designers, contractors, and homeowners. I provide my clients with digital visualizations, manifesting realistic visuals of their projects/ structures, prior to building. My passion, professionalism, communication skills, and dedication to my clients are paramount.

My clients demand innovative and high-quality results, which can only be accomplished via a professional work ethic. I would like to believe this mission statement sets me apart from the other competing companies in the architectural industry. I’m very proud I’ve come this far and continue to see my dream realized.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was always a quiet kid. The youngest of 3 children, 2 boys, and 1 girl. I grew up in a happy loving home. My parents had a restaurant and taught the kids to work hard and smart. As a family, my parents instilled teamwork. We all worked together to get the job done.

Mom and Dad always pushed the kids to excel. We always had pets. I do miss my loyal friend/pet, our golden Labrador, who is back in Colombia with my family. I was an artistic child. As a young boy, I found myself drawing charcoal portraits, comic sketches, storybook characters, and theatrical scripts, to name a few, which resulted in long-term object, and architectural designs.

At age 24, it was a very proud time in my life, because was able to write my first book, “La Otra Cara del Cielo” (The other face of heaven). My book is a mystery/ psychological thriller. You may find it on Amazon. I would like to say, I’m very fortunate and blessed, to have had an amazing childhood, with a wonderful support system.
