Today we’d like to introduce you to Alesia McKinnon.
Hi Alesia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always had a love for performing whether it has been through music, athletics, modeling, or acting. I am also a mental health advocate
My parents have always pushed for me to become the well-rounded woman that I am today. I have studied acting art at renowned schools along the east coast veteran coach.
As I continue to perfect my craft, I want to chase the exponential success of my career future, in modeling and acting.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Throughout my life, I struggled with mental health. I received my first diagnosis in 2013. I have learned how to cope and keep pushing forward while encouraging others, and those close to me to do the same.
With my journey and my mission, I want to emphasize how important it is to take care of yourself, mentally, physically, and emotionally.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As an actress and model, I can portray many different cultural roles in a wide age range.
So far in my career, including her FOX debut, Red Band Society, she has been cast in roles dealing with timepieces, occupational, and coming-of-age genres. I will soon be expanding into various genres that showcase my many talents, such as stunts, accents, dialects, etc.
My greatest achievement is my perseverance in continuing this journey within these last months, including an international fashion publication.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up in the Northeast, I was very outgoing, a happy-go-lucky child. When I had an assignment in the first grade, my teacher asked me what I wanted to be. To this day, I still have the paper, and it says “Actress, Cheerleader, Doctor, (and) Millionaire.”
My parents had my brother and me in sports, music lessons, extra curricular activities. They stressed the importance of character building through many outlets. When I moved to the Southeast, things were different. I was still active in extracurricular activities, athletics, etc.
However, I became shy out of nowhere. Looking back on it, I can genuinely say I was afraid of being a big fish in a small pond. As I grew older, I returned to being true to myself, through creative outlets such as acting, creative directing, and modeling.
