Today we’d like to introduce you to Gabby Sanchez.
Hi Gabby, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am currently a dancer, podcaster, student, and aspiring fashion designer and model, trying to navigate the world at the moment. As I am still in my early 20s, I admittedly am still a major work in progress. However, there is a light at the end of every tunnel in this story.
My goals are to blend and fuse dance and fashion together and be in charge of the modeling behind the scenes. Along with having the connections and aspirations for building a future restaurant and a TV show. Essentially, dance, fashion, modeling, food, and TV are all my favorite things in my life and I wish to share that with the world one day.
However, the most important part of all of my goals and dreams is not only to fuse dance and fashion together, take over the modeling on and off my brand, and have my own future restaurant and TV show but to do all of that while inserting myself as a Peruvian-American in any and every room I walk into.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would definitely be in denial if I said this was an easy road! Everyone faces their own personal struggles and bumps along their own road. However, my two biggest struggles have and continue to remain as:
1) Not truly believing in myself and my capacity
2) Struggling and being extremely tough on myself to figure out what my careers path is going to be at such a young age
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As previously stated, I am a dancer and podcaster at the moment. Although I still have much to learn about both realms, I am continuously building myself up weekly. I do not specialize in any one creative path because I do not wish to limit myself to so many incredible creative possibilities.
I am most proud of dancing, podcasting, and self-teaching myself fashion design aside from being just a college student. Although incredibly grateful for the lessons and opportunities college has brought me, I am most definitely meant to take other routes creatively.
What sets me apart from others is admitting that I have much to learn. Everyone feels like they need to have all the skills, answers, and perfection right away (myself included!), but it is not always realistic. For example, dance is a major disciplinary lesson for me.
Dancers wish they can get to their dream physique, stamina, and performance power overnight, but every individual’s body takes a certain amount of time. Sure, there may be dancers that got their dream everything in a short time span, but that doesn’t necessarily mean you will.
And that is 100% okay.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Independence and not giving up until you feel accomplished within yourself to take a break and/or finish the day.
