Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorena RS.
Hi Lorena, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started doing yoga around 2015 looking for a way to disconnect and also work out. At that time, I wasn’t healthy and was not in a stable position in my life, as soon as I stepped in, in that yoga room I knew I had to change my life. That is where I noticed I had to be a wellness coach/yoga instructor.
Even though I knew it wasn’t that easy. I had a 9-5 job and was very lost in what or how I should do it at that time and was very young too. I decided to leave it on standby but continue practicing it and learning new types of yoga and fitness. In 2019, I got oriented by one of my mentors and decided to start my journey but again it wasn’t easy.
Eventually, I started taking several training sessions in 2019 thru 2021, which prepared me to be where I am. In the beginning, I was kind of hesitant to leave my corporate job so I decided to make a plan for one year of saving and planning every little detail.
Of course, it did not come as I expected but I had my family and friends to support me and not give up. Which I consider a blessing.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been a smooth road but like everything that you love and is passionate you need to pursue it and go after it. Even though I have always had the support of my family and friends.
It was not easy getting into what I love since I am very introverted, and fearful and it was too difficult to speak to people, especially talking to people that are from Miami. I got a lot of pushback from people because of this and also my English was not very good at the beginning.
Also, when I was ready to get started in my journey Covid started and made my life had to take a pause but that incident I don’t count it since everyone in the world went through it.
At that moment, I just decided to take that as an opportunity and make myself more trained in what I loved and practice with the people that supported me, with that time was what right now made me what I am.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a yoga instructor/wellness coach and also a student. My main specialty is to help communities that need help believing in themself and have also physical injuries.
I will start with what you feel comfortable with and what you can do but at the same will manage thru does fear in order to make you get where you aspire to be and get out of those comfort zones.
What set me apart is my passion to make you feel you are at home and make you feel good. Make my student feel as comfortable as possible.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I have been in Miami now for 7 years and I love the cultural diversity aspect.
The fact that here in Miami we are all different is something amazing. I also love that we have something different to offer and there is space for everyone.
I consider myself a Miami girl already but if I have to say something that I don’t like about the city is the traffic, I am a person that is very chill, and planning to get everywhere is not my thing. But everything else is perfect.
