Community Highlights: Meet Emily Adams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Adams.

Hi Emily, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in the Amish culture and at the age of 17 decided to leave in the middle of the night. As I jumped out of a two-story house to leave the culture and everything I had known my entire life little did I realize this was just the first of many jumps I would take in my life?

The first thing I did was started working on getting my GED since the Amish school only goes to eighth grade and started applying for jobs. As I am trying to figure things out and going through a culture shock I get pregnant at 18, married at 19, and pregnant again at 21. It was an abusive marriage and four years into it I realized I needed to leave for the safety of me and my two boys.

Meanwhile, I had started working in the automotive industry and I had always wanted to get a bachelor’s degree but my husband at the time controlled me so much to the point that he wouldn’t allow it since I needed to work to pay the bills and be a mom to our boys.

I left the marriage and went through a nasty custody battle. I enrolled at Purdue determined to get my degree in four years. Four years later as a single mom working full-time I walked across the stage with my bachelor’s degree in Organizational Supervision and Leadership.

I changed jobs but still stayed in the automotive industry until 2020 right before the pandemic hit I made the decision to leave the corporate world due to burnout and not having any time with my boys. Through the pandemic, I had a spiritual awakening and realized many things in my life which led me to start healing and also writing. This is how my first book was created.

Fast forward a few months, I decided to make the move from Indiana to the one place I always wanted to live in, Florida. This opened up a lot of opportunities and I started to take writing more seriously with the goal to publish my first book. At the start of 2022 when I published my book “From Choice To Change” I realized I had a special gift I learned in automotive and that was teaching others how to navigate change.

This led me to dig into other areas and I also found out I was really good at finding revenue leakage, efficiency loss, and problem-solving.

I learned a lot of these tools in automotive manufacturing and realized not every business knows how to do this which led me to start my own business consulting where I now help corporations navigate change, recover revenue, and efficiency loss.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road. The struggles along the road were self-doubt, having to change my mindset, and having faith that everything is going to work out in the end.

I had to constantly remind myself that I was given this dream and vision for a reason and to continue to go after it regardless of what obstacles come up.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Emily Adams LLC?
