Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Gossele.
Hi Jordan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’m a food photographer/recipe developer and in what feels like a different life, a former event professional (hence why I love a good theme!) I’m a very creative person that always knew I wanted to work for myself. For the last few years, I’ve run by food & wellness blog, Prickly Fresh, but felt I was ready for something new. During 2020 we felt a huge shift in the world and I felt a huge shift in myself. I wasn’t living in my “flow” anymore. I’ve always loved giving people gifts, but none of the gift boxes out there ever hit all the spots to give to my friends. I created Rachel Rose Collective so that I could make aesthetically pleasing gifts that align with wellness and sustainability while supporting small businesses.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has most definitely not been a smooth road. Starting a business, from scratch, by yourself, is hard, expensive and stressful. I think the hardest part is not really having any co-workers or anyone to look to for advice. Yes, of course there are tons of resources (google is my bff) and many people in my life with great experience but the day to day tasks of figuring out things like shipping, web coding, and just clarity in general, if I’m doing the “right thing”, is a challenge.
As you know, we’re big fans of Rachel Rose Collective. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I created Rachel Rose Collective so that I could make aesthetically pleasing gifts that align with wellness and sustainability while supporting small businesses. There are no weird-smelling soaps, tacky keychains or gummy candy, here. We focus on clean, non-toxic ingredients, housewares, and beauty products you’ll actually use. It’s always important to me that gifts are equally as useful as they are beautiful.
When you’re welcomed to our website there are a few options to choose from. For example: our ready-to-ship gifts have already been designed and all you have to do is click ship! Option #2 is creating your own gift: you can choose from a number of products to add to a gift box, and we’ll take care of the pretty packaging. The last option is something completely custom: anything from corporate client gifts, to wedding welcome packages, we’re here to make your vision a reality!
I think what sets Rachel Rose Collective apart from others is our products. I try really hard to support small & women-owned businesses that are creating products with clean, non-toxic ingredients and I’m really proud of that.
I didn’t want it to be your average gift box that is full of candy, weird-smelling soap and useless items. I wanted it to be items that are aesthetically pleasing, coming from small businesses that align with my values of sustainability and wellness. No one wants to spend money on a gift that’s going to get thrown in the trash.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I’ve learned that everything can change in the blink of an eye. Pursue your passions NOW, go after your dreams NOW, life is entirely too short to not live up to your full potential.
