Today we’d like to introduce you to Mariela Henriquez.
Hi Mariela, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up with the idea that when you’re older you have to choose a practical career and job. Although I went to art school, I ended up managing a real estate photography company for four years. It got to a point where I could no longer deny my calling. As someone who’s naturally a little shy, I feel I can express my personality and interests through my photography. Very few things make me happier than creating something entirely from concept to reality.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
One thing I didn’t foresee is how truly difficult it is for people to know you exist. Meeting people that go in line with my values and finding that creative community has been a real challenge. What helps keep me centered is remembering who I am without any external influence.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a Fashion Photographer and Creative Director. I’m most proud of the fact that thus far in my career I’ve been in charge of planning the concept of each and one of my photoshoots. If anything I would say that what sets me apart is the lively and dynamic energy I carry with me.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success means being in a place where you are at peace with body and mind.
