Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Broder.
Hi Amber, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Social media has been a part of my life since I was in sixth grade, intertwined with storytelling and leadership. From having a photography page in the very early days of Instagram to running multiple blogs throughout high school, performing in plays and heading two change-driving clubs at my high school – I’ve always been driven by the desire to tell impactful stories and do things a little bit differently.
It wasn’t until my freshman year of college that I began to think seriously about how I could turn these passions – Instagram, storytelling, and leadership – into a career path. I knew politics wasn’t where my heart wanted to go anymore, so I began to explore other options. I started a skincare Instagram & blog in the midst of freshman fall finals, where I not only discovered the joy of content creation but the satisfaction of educating other, newer creators on tips and tricks I learned along the way. This page – which allowed me to work with some of the brands I’d had on my bathroom shelves for years and launched my first real side hustle – opened the door to an internship at a startup skincare brand. There I tumbled headfirst into the world of social media marketing and thrived on it.
But as I mentioned previously, I like to do things a little bit differently. I learned so much from that internship – including things I wanted to change about the way businesses did marketing. After seven months, I left that company to focus on building ABC Social Media Management. In April of 2021, I was officially in business.
Today, I’ve graduated from Georgetown University with a bachelor of science in International Politics and a double minor in Spanish & Psychology, along with a business that is my full-time job. ABC Social Media Management boasts a roster of seven retainer clients, ranging from home decor and equestrian facilities to spas and Photo Booth rentals, as well as consulting clients across a range of industries.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been! Starting a business at any time isn’t easy, but doing it while I was a full-time college student and a competitive showjumper was certainly no walk in the park. I have always had strong time management skills but launching ABC Social Media Management forced me to hone them even further.
I’ve also had to work through situations with clients that have challenged me in ways I wouldn’t have been at a typical 9-5. From contract negotiations to systems development to the mishaps that are a part of any start-up, I’ve been responsible for it all.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
ABC Social Media Management offers social media management and strategy consulting to businesses primarily in the interior design & home decor space, although we do have clients in other industries. We specialize in Instagram strategy, content & engagement that grows our clients’ communities authentically and impactfully. What sets ABC Social Media Management apart from other social media managers and agencies is that I’ve lived and breathed social media since middle school – and unlike many who gripe about the Instagram algorithm, I genuinely enjoy the challenges and intricacies of the platform. I am the most proud of the results I get for my clients – not only increases in reach & following but the stress I am able to alleviate and the time I’m able to give them back.
If you’re looking for someone to take Instagram off your plate and make growing your community on social media feel fun & easy, I’d love to chat!
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Before, I thought I wanted to go into politics and before I decided I would be an entrepreneur right out of college, I thought I wanted to be an actress. I performed in every theatre product throughout middle & high school, in plays like Two Gentlemen of Verona and musicals like Hello, Dolly. I even wore a duck on my head in one show!
