Meet Jaida Deco

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaida Deco.

Hi Jaida, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jaida Deco and I am an entrepreneur hailing from the city of Dorchester, Massachusetts. I began my career in the fashion industry as a runway model at the age of sixteen. After my first runway experience, I knew immediately that becoming a model was the passion I wanted to pursue. Through working with some of Boston’s best creatives in the fashion industry I was exposed to each avenue the fashion industry has to offer. Whether it was Modeling, Acting, Providing MUA, or even Creative directing I was able to absorb integral knowledge and incorporate this knowledge into my own brand’s values, principal’s, and vision. I currently run four brands that touch on different markets. I own Decobrand Agency which focuses on taking a person’s personal vision, brand or idea and acting as that mirror for them. Birthing it into something far greater through creative and unique marketing strategies, brand promotion, market analysis and so much more. I am also a nail technician through my company Decobrand beauty which allows me to provide my clientele with luxury nail services and therapeutic interactions. Not only that, I run a twerk fitness company named DecosTwerkshop which aims to build confidence or reignite the confidence that is already within. I began DecosTwerkshop out of a place of postpartum depression after I had my two-year-old Harmony. I wanted to create a space where I combined my love for the art of twerking with the components of fitness and made it a space where people could be themselves, refine and redefine themselves unapologetically through owning their sensuality while getting a great workout in addition to health care and self-care tips! However, My biggest job is that I am a WHOLE “mommy-prenuer”, giving birth to my beautiful daughter Harmony lit my fire of understanding what my definite purpose was. It’s like looking in a mirror when you have a child and raising a daughter is even more pressure. At the end of the day, I have learned to be more intentional about the energy I put out into the world while still remaining my authentic self. I am not raising just a child but a future leader while also breaking generational habits. I give credit to Harmony for who I am today because she is someone who will impact those she meets along her own journey.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I don’t believe any path is smooth for anyone, especially for myself. I prefer to take the road less traveled. Even if I end up in the same lane, trust me I am driving in something different. Some struggles I have faced along the way were; being distracted by things that did not resonate within my soul and having fears of what other people thought. Due to a lack of confidence; even though I hid it well, I tried to find other outlets and distractions to cover up what I needed to face so that I could level up and get to the next chapter. However, after I had my daughter Harmony a lot of what I put off healing came to face me like a punch to the face. My struggles encompassed me fast and at that point with everything in front of me, I had no choice but to begin dealing with each struggle head-on. Through dealing with each of my fears face to face I am learning how to utilize my gifts to help the world and not hinder the world through that lack and feeling bad about myself. Growing up partially in this social media age and partially not, I am faced with trying to fit in and going with everyone’s flow which I am entirely not about. I believe in staying true to yourself ultimately and the rest will figure itself out. However, it’s hard not to get caught up in the hype at times, which is why I do my best to take steps back into reality and focus on the real reason why I was given these gifts in the first place; to network, to connect others, spread joy and confidence and build generational wealth.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
That’s a great question, I am known for my creativity, the way I connect with my peers, and my energy; when I am in a room you will feel my presence and my fearlessness. It’s infectious. I am proud of my ambition. I am really tenacious in the way I fight through each adversity. The average thinking person probably would have gone crazy by now and froze up. I am proud of how I do not let up or give up on becoming who the truest version of myself is. What sets me apart from others is my patience and understanding and my understanding of human nature. I feel like when you pause, reflect, and think before acting, speaking, and judging others you then allow time for the true story to unfold. I have seen so many people judged before they came into their true selves that including myself so I have a huge soft spot for the underdogs. In conclusion, what I do is spread outside of the box thinking through every idea, connection, and brand that I touch.

How do you define success?
I define success as being able to take acquired knowledge and apply it to a dark situation and turn it into a light situation. Then, once you have that figured out, share that knowledge with others so they may get out of their dark situation too. You aren’t a boss if everyone on your team isn’t shining. Success is waking up each day and being able to still breathe because you have a story to tell. Success is knowing you are worthy of all that is placed before you and being able to be accountable for the highs and the lows. Success to myself is also understanding that life is a bunch of decisions that you make from when you wake up to when you go to sleep so if you aren’t making wise decisions then the results of those actions is what life will hand you in return. Ultimately success is looking my daughter in her eyes and seeing that her future is bright because mommy decided to do what needed to be done to enhance her already predestined experience in this temporary place we call earth.
