Today we’d like to introduce you to Estefania Salinas.
Hi Estefania, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Five months ago, I graduated from the University of Miami with a master’s in Broadcast Journalism. A fun fact about me is that I finished my bachelor’s degree in three years and went straight to graduate school at the age of 20 while living on my own. Two years later, I received my second degree!
I mention this accomplishment because it shows the kind of person I am; which is DETERMINED, PASSIONATE and MOTIVATED.
This is all thanks to my parents especially my mother. She is the person who made me an independent woman and to not be afraid to conquer my goals in life. I am grateful for her as well as my College chapter which taught me responsibilities as I balanced two jobs while attending school. However, now I move onto another chapter of my life…which is competing for Miss Florida USA. Miss Florida USA is part of the Miss USA and Miss Universe organization. I am honored to represent the city of Hialeah. #roadtomissfloridausa
Since I was 15 years old, I dreamed of competing in this pageant because this is more than a pageant to me. It’s a place where women inspire other women and young girls that dreams are possible, we empower one another and I can become that role model for other young girls. I want to spread my message of “believing in yourself”, to build that confidence and to make an impact as I did these past few years by balancing tasks, graduating early, community service and living on my own. I would love to be someone that they can look up to and say, “if she can, so can I”.
The past few months, I have been working hard on fitness, runway, and interview training. I have been sharing my journey through social media where one can make a difference.
I’ve dreamed of this forever and my determination, motivation, and drive have already brought me this far.
I cannot change the world but I can make a difference for someone somewhere. We, all women, are capable of many great things in life when we have a community behind us rooting for us and making sure that even when we slip, we don’t stay down. As of now, I work as a marketing assistant and build content for my clients. Little by little, I am becoming a person I always knew I could be.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nothing in life is perfect. I came across many obstacles throughout the years and I still face them today.
However, the challenges we face should not defeat us; it should make us stronger as a human being. One challenge that I faced was negative comments/energy from jobs and individuals. This world is a crucial place but we have to be smart and push ourselves even more. Personally, those negative comments went straight through my ears.
Another challenge I faced was not achieving one of my dream jobs as a reporter. I remembered I took a deep breath before taking a step back to observe what I did wrong. So I looked over my resume and content. I edited, made a variety of content and uploaded them to social media. Then I stepped forward again to apply for other jobs and collaborations. At the end, someone recognized my work.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I used to work at a podcast but quickly switched to marketing after connecting with a client. I currently work as a content marketer. My responsibilities include planning, creating, and sharing valuable content to attract an audience and create a list of customers.
I came a long way. These past few years taught me the true definition of adulthood. Therefore, my achievements, knowledge, the joy spread to my family and friends, my traditions and values.
What sets me apart from others is my humbleness. I am proud to be the daughter of immigrant parents. You have to remember where you came from; my father reminds me everyday. But it’s not only my humbleness, it’s the passion I have for my culture, professions (editing, reporting, hosting, and marketing) determination, and paying it forward to communities in need.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
My family, friends and work makes me happy everyday. I give and receive advice from both my family and friends. That is the most valuable gesture to me. At work, I am able to make connections at events and build strong relationships with clients. I enjoy what I do in life. They say you don’t work a day in your life when you’re passionate about your profession.
