Inspiring Conversations with Lindsey Garcia of Skin at Peace

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Garcia.

Hi Lindsey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I have been an Esthetician for 15 years, working with some of the largest brands in the industry. I also suffer from rosacea and sensitive skin. With access to all of the best skincare, I still could not find a line that helped calm my skin while still receiving the anti-aging benefits I wanted. My husband has an MD degree and has experience working in labs improving skincare formulas. He offered to make me my own products to use on myself. You could call it a labor of love. After using the products he made me for a short time, I knew we had something very special and wanted to share them with my clients. We created Skin at Peace in our kitchen in Jupiter, Florida. Fast-forward four years, we have a thriving, plant-based skincare line being made in West Palm Beach, Florida. Our clients have seen amazing results in their skin, from reduction in redness + inflammation to clearer, more hydrated skin that is healthy. Our products are made for all skin types, even the most sensitive.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like all start-up businesses, our success has not been linear. We have changed our packaging several times, our formulas have been ever-changing, and I have had to learn marketing + social media tools. One of the smartest things I did was hire a brand consultant and website designer, Marisol Draughon. She was essential in the aesthetic of our brand, as well as extracting our mission and articulating that through our content. She also helped us navigate local photographers + events and connected me with influencers. I had been working in spas + salons for the last 15 years behind the chair, so I was way behind on how to launch + run a successful business on my own. I am still learning but am able to handle much more on my own now.

As you know, we’re big fans of Skin at Peace. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We are a sustainable skincare line for sensitive skin + all skin types. All of our ingredients are plant + vitamin-based, with no harsh chemicals or preservatives. Our small-batch, handmade production makes this possible. Formulated + made by a doctor, and created by an Esthetician, Skin at Peace is backed by experience + knowledge. There is no fragrance, sulfates, or fillers of any kind. Only potent vitamins such as C, B, E and natural derivates of A, which provide proven results without irritation.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
People are surprised when they hear we don’t outsource any part of the company. We do all of the design of labels, packaging, and marketing material. We also make all of our own formulas in a lab in West Palm Beach, Florida. We choose only ethically sourced, organic ingredients, all made in the United States. We bottle, label, and package each order by hand, personally. Our batches are made at least once a month, so we only use the freshest ingredients possible. When you order products from Skin at Peace, they have been made within the last 30 days. We also do all of our own social media, so you are always talking directly to the owners.
