Today we’d like to introduce you to Jonathon Ferguson.
Hi Jonathon, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story definitely started when I was young. I used to draw, write, collect cards, play sports & even sing, but ultimately I think I was in love with creating. As I grew older life slowly became a canvas and I wanted to create, design, and curate many different things and countless mediums. I create safe spaces for people to express themselves, I design pillows and other products for myself and my friends. and I make music, which gives me great (mad) joy.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No road is fully smooth, but also; no road is alike either. I think that is what’s good about roads or the (process) of where you’re going. Is that it’s unique to you. Won’t be smooth and won’t be alike, my journey hasn’t been smooth and I’ve taken some detours. Intuition plays a big part in your daily dealings. I’ve dealt with stolen ideas, demographic black-balling but those are small problems, creating doesn’t stop it keeps going. As long as I’m a true honest version of myself, my road is successful and fruitful.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a creative director. I tell stories from my mind for countless brands, start-ups & artist to be consumed by the masses. I specialize in curating the playing field on what / where our idea will live; that could be events, music, visual work, marketing & strategy. I’m most proud of cultivating a network full of hardworking creative professionals who are pushing the culture forward. My friends are my inspirations, I’ve created countless brands over the years that have all been successful. My event company WhiteDurag does business in many different markets. My lifestyle / pillow brand ‘Thanks For Sleeping’ is in amazing homes. I believe my agile approach to implementation sets me apart from others. I look at task in a solution-forward mindset instead of ‘how will I do this mindset’.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see my industry going really crazy over the next few years. Virgil is one of the most brilliant creative directors we’ve ever seen. Before he passed, he left these young kids the blueprint. Knowledge is the biggest shift, give anyone the knowledge of something and they’ll create the tools. Trends follow as more ideas and tools are created.
