Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary and Allen Guerra.
Hi Mary and Allen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our company started based on a personal need. In 2016, Allen and I decided to get married, and we wanted a ceremony that was intimate yet filled with emotion, celebrating the fact that we found one another later in life and we were bringing together our families. Allen planned for and wrote the ceremony, with every single detail that resembled who we were as a couple, and a friend of ours officiated the ceremony. Two years passed by and our daughter asked us to officiate her ceremony as well, which meant so much for us as her parents! Allen officiated her ceremony, and Mary walked her down the aisle. Two weeks later, we had a website up and From Engaged To Married was born, a wedding company that designs, writes, and officiates personalized and memorable wedding ceremonies based on every couple’s love story.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Just like everyone else in the world, our business was slightly impacted by COVID-19. By March, courthouses were closed and our couples had to postpone their big celebrations. So we decided to help many of them by officiating an intimate ceremony just with them, where they exchanged their vows and rings. When they were able to get their licenses, we notarized them and even officiated another ceremony in front of their family and friends. During that period, we were able to create systems and processes to make our communications with our clients more effective.
We’ve been impressed with From Engaged To Married, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our premise is to design, write and officiate emotional and unique wedding ceremonies. We listen to our couples’ stories and weave their beautiful memories into a one-of-a-kind ceremony that is created only for them. Our ceremonies are all emotional and intimate, inspired by the story and experiences of our couples, told in very subtle yet romantic ways. We help our clients figure out what to include in their ceremony, we coordinate with the different wedding vendors serving them that day, and we create a different and unique ceremony, which will bring an emotional experience not only for them but for their families and guests!
We offer three ceremony packages that fit every couple’s budget: Silver, Gold, and Elite. We also offer Rehearsal packages to have a seamless wedding ceremony. From Engaged To Married officiates all types of wedding ceremonies: Non-religious, religious, cultural, interfaith, and we proudly and happily celebrate weddings for our LGBT communities. We travel everywhere and anywhere our couples need us and we officiate weddings in English, Spanish, or both.
From Engaged To Married has received Wedding Wire Couples’ Choice Awards 2022 and The Knot Best of Weddings 2022 in the Wedding Officiant category. We are active and proud members of the International Association of Professional Wedding Officiants (IAPWO), the National Association of Wedding Professionals (NAWP), and the Dania Beach Chamber of Commerce.
What were you like growing up?
Mary Jane and Allen’s backgrounds are both in Education. Mary Jane’s spent most of her life in Ecuador, where she obtained her B.S. in International Education. She worked as an International Baccalaureate History teacher and a University professor, and when she moved to the U.S. she took the role of Instructional Designer and healthcare software Trainer until taking the role of managing From Engaged To Married as her full-time job. Allen was a Disney performer for over 15 years, and he has a Master’s in Education. He currently holds the position of manager of Corporate Training for a global healthcare company, and he is responsible for writing all the romantic ceremonies for our couples.
