Check Out Javier Amador’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Javier Amador.

Hi Javier, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started playing piano at the age of three, and as cliche as it sounds music is all I can remember. There’s never been a time where I haven’t been involved in music, and it continues to stay with me even now. I got to where I am after my family suffered a major loss, I lost both my parents and my two younger sisters leaving my older sister and I to pick up the pieces and figure out where to go from there. At the time, I was just a 16 years old kid, so after finishing high school, I went to Miami Dade in Kendall and took some music classes before graduating and joining a band and essentially kick-starting my dream. After graduating, I spent some time trying to do what I could, playing gigs, working to survive, but not really succeeding with what I had just yet. So after deciding to go back to school, I went to University of Miami (my mom worked at the school so I had tuition remission that I didn’t want to let go to waste) and graduated with a Bachelors in Music and Music Business. Where I am now is a direct result of things going completely wrong, but being able to get back up and turn all that failure into something I could stand on with success. Starting my own personal band in college, I started to hyper-focus on it and craft and direct exactly what I wanted and how I wanted. And now I’m here! A private music teacher with over 30 students, 2 EP’s self-released, four music videos that were self-funded, and with so much more content and music being released later this year.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road at all. Starting from being orphaned at 16 to struggling with school and finances and being on my own, the biggest struggle lately was moving from my comfort zone in Miami to Boynton Beach for a job and for people that completely abandoned me and left me with zero choices, having to work four jobs at once just to survive while continuing trying to make my band happen.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a private music teacher. I specialize working with kids, but I also work with adults. I teach mainly piano and guitar, but I’m also most known for incorporating music theory and songwriting in my lessons (if they want to pursue that). Something I’m most proud of is the relationships I build with the students and their families. I’ve been told many times by the parents that they love how well their kid is doing, but that also their kid is so inspired because of me specifically. I think what sets me apart is that I still have a little bit of kid in me, so when working with other kids, that just brings out the inner child in me and I can connect to them very easily while still teaching them something new.
