Hi Poppy, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am the owner and creator of Brody’s Bandanas. I started my small online business back in March 2018. My dog, Brody (Golden Retriever) inspired me to start and established my small business. If you were wondering, did I make him an Instagram page? The answer is yes. His Instagram handle is @_brodythegolden. He is the most sweetest gentle giant dog you’ll ever meet! One day, we were looking for a cute bandana for him to rock for St. Patrick’s day but we couldn’t find any that was my liking but we did settle with one with anything green on the fabric. That same night, a friend suggested that I should just make Brody a bandana to rock with his own pattern, we already have the machine to make our own design and fabric so why not! The next day, Brody had his own bandana to rock and I shared it on his Instagram page and everyone seemed to LOVE IT. We offer matching coolie for dog parents to match their dog as well and people love that idea as well. We print, cut, and select our own designs to go on the fabric. Our pet bandanas are not like any others, we strive for high quality and we come out with new patterns every season/holidays. It’s never boring around here, we love seeing your fur babies rock stylish pet bandanas. It’s been quite a journey and I didn’t expect that one day I would own a small business inspired by my dog, which is something I am proud of and so happy to be doing right now. I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Owning a small business is never easy but definitely worth the ride. I wouldn’t say it’s been smooth, there are days when it gets tough. Our bandanas are all handmade some days the machines we use to make them would break and that’s something that is very stressful because it would interrupt the flow of things and getting orders out on time etc. There are days I work late nights to get enough inventory for the next pop up shops but it’s definitely all worth it so no complaints!
We’ve been impressed with Brody’s Bandanas, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Brody’s Bandanas sells pet supplies/products. All pet bandanas are handmade (printed and cut at home). I pick all the designs, they are trendy, tropical-inspired pet bandanas. I strive for high quality and I do offer wholesale to clients. I do make custom bandanas which I can put their logo, branding on the bandanas if they would like. I also offer matching products and more!

I love collaborating with another small business owners as well! In the past, I worked with a small business owner where we both used our products to come out with a collection for the holidays for humans and dogs to match. They both can use the products. I believe in networking and collaborations. People can definitely support us by giving us a follow on Instagram, grow our business through social media and word of mouth spreading the name! Anything helps! I think it’s wonderful when we all can connect with each other through social media and become friends in real life. I met so many great people through my dog’s Instagram and I made friends with my clients through social media. It’s awesome!
