Community Highlights: Meet Sabrina Diaz of HER | Signature Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Diaz.

Hi Sabrina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I was born and raised in the Bronx, New York in a Puerto Rican household where I was the 2nd youngest of five siblings. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve always loved fashion. I would always knit myself the cutest scarves, the boldest colors and they became the staple pieces to my outfits. I loved styling my sisters and friends for all of their events. Eventually, everyone came to me when it was time for them to put together something new and I found myself looking forward to it. I also had a thing for business really young. I would buy a box of cupcake mix from the store, make them and sell them to my family and friends. I always had a new “business” I made up, although I was so young it was a thought process that eventually became my thing. After graduating high school, I moved to Miami for college, graduated and got a job in corporate America. Six months in, I was at a meeting for work and had this realization that I wasn’t supposed to be there. My passion wasn’t there. I was meant to start my own brand. I was meant to be that story for women that you can achieve anything you’re willing to work for. As soon as that meeting was over, I hit the ground running learning everything I needed to open my boutique. Her Signature was born shortly after and the name itself embodies everything you need to know. It’s my signature. The pieces are all ones that I would wear, that I believe would make every woman feel beautiful and most of all being my signature, it is the mark I plan on leaving behind being a fully women-owned and operated brand.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I don’t think I fully understood what I was signing up for when starting. In just the first 60 days, I lost my entire start-up fund deciding to work with the wrong distributors in trying to bring my vision to life. I lost so much that I decided it wasn’t for me and started to look for jobs again. After many self pep talks, I knew this was one of many things I would go through if I wanted to take on this journey. After months of starting over, everything was set and it was time to launch. I thought my worries were over but sales just weren’t coming in. I was marketing as best as I knew how at the time but having bills and no sales made it really hard for me to continue to focus on just my boutique. I had to get another job but I refused to let my business take the back seat so I did both. After many sleepless nights and so many trial and errors, I was finally able to leave my job, get my first showroom and focus solely on my brand. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the love and support from every single woman that has purchased anything from me and for that, I am so grateful.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a Women’s boutique who specialize in all things Denim, Basic and Neutral as we believe those are the three signature staple pieces in every woman’s wardrobe. Thats what makes us different, having your three must haves in so many varieties in just one place. I am most proud of the look I see on every customer’s face when they try on our denim. So many women say that jeans are one of the hardest things to find and we have definitely mastered having the perfect fit no matter your shape or size.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
My determination. I’ve never given up. No matter how hard things have gotten and no matter how many people have said no, I’ve always know that this was going to work. Even on my lowest days when everything was against me, I was determined to have a successful boutique not only for myself but for my loved ones and for every girl out there who was a dream. To be a reminder that our dreams aren’t as far-fetched as we think.
