Meet Farah Abassi of Aroma360

Today we’d like to introduce you to Farah Abassi.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada and I have been living between Miami and Boca Raton for five years.

My first job at 15 was at an essential oil shop which is where my passion for fragrance and aromatherapy was ignited. There we made custom fragrance blends for our clients learned about fragrance combining and the intricacies of aromatherapy. After finishing university, I stepped away from fragrance and spent four years working in finance.

In 2013, I took the plunge and decided to turn my passion for fragrance into a career. I began exploring the fascinating impact scent has on one’s emotional state of mind– the more I learned, the more I realized there is an incredible opportunity to use scent to enhance all aspects of our lives.

Now, work is my passion – it’s what gets me out of bed every day and I love the never-ending challenges. I have the privilege of working with an incredible team and amazing clients from all corners of the world that never cease to inspire me.

Has it been a smooth road?
I don’t think there is such thing as a “smooth road” when running a business! We have been growing so quickly so forecasting our demand has been a learning process.

Last year we had a huge Black Friday promotion and then another big promotion at the beginning of December called the “12 Days of Scenting”. We didn’t realize the magnitude of our holiday sales and we sold out of every single diffuser by the second week of December! We had to rush production and shipping which was very costly.

We also recently had a big hurricane scare and they were predicting a direct hit by a category 5 storm. We had just received a large shipment so, between all our warehouses, we had over $2 million dollars in inventory. We had two days to “hurricane-proof” our warehouses and it was a bit chaotic because we weren’t prepared at all. We learned from this and now we have a hurricane plan in place so everyone has a clear direction.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Aroma360 – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I started Aroma360 in 2013 and it has since grown to be a strong player in the Scent Marketing industry. We aim to provide our clients with a way to break through the auditory and visual barrage by using scent to reach their customers on an emotional level, strengthen their brand and increase revenues.

Our specialty is creating bespoke scents for luxury brands and hotels and developing tailored scent marketing and branding strategies. Our process of developing a signature scent is very detailed and specialized as no two brands or businesses are the same. When creating a signature scent, I take all aspects of the business into consideration. I look at their history, customers, goals, and the desired emotional response and translate that into a scent that embodies their brand.
